Umi Japanese Steakhouse

"When we walked inside, we were sat immediately, but we noticed the dim lighting and sticky table. The menu had some unappealing substance on a couple of the pages, which prompted me having to pry them apart. We were sat in an awkward place, so a waitress kept brushing my shoulder as she waited on the table behind us. Our waiter was nice, but it kind of felt like he was trying to do things as quickly as possible — and not in a good way. He tossed the silverware at us, and even if it was not intentional, I was a bit put off by it. When we got our food, it was definitely not what we expected. My friend ordered the chicken hibachi and said her rice tasted like window cleaner, and when I tried my own food, I should have sent it back. I did not; that’s on me. Additionally, the soy sauce was caked shut, and the yum yum sauce was separated and warm. (I don’t think it was refrigerated properly.) On top of that, the oil they used for frying definitely needed to be changed. I stayed up all night sick and found out my friend was… guess what? Also sick. We will not be back. Cannot recommend in good conscience."

"We took our daughter tonight to eat for her birthday. We were seated fairly quickly but it took forever for us to get our food. When we ordered our food we told them it was our daughter’s birthday and after we paid they still hadn’t sang to her. She almost cried because they had done it for multiple groups before us. I had to walk away to remind them it was her birthday and they quickly gathered people to half sing to her. The food wasn’t very good and we paid almost $100 with tip. It used to be good and maybe tonight was an off night but I’ll not be spending my money there anymore"

"Our group of 3 business travelers went for the hibachi and enjoyed the chef preparing our meal in front of us. We sat with two other couples and got to talking with them which made for interesting conversations. The food was very good and reasonably priced. It wasn't as refined as some other hibachi style experiences I had but it was a great value. This probably one of the better restaurants in the area."

"We had dinner in a booth. The Bento box was perfect! It is more expensive than lunch but the serving size is much bigger. I will be coming back. Watch the clock, the close after lunch and reopen at 4:30"

"First time ordering. Ordered food to go and it was pretty quick to be ready. Ordered vegetable fried rice, miso, salad, salmon roll, & tuna roll. The fried rice was really flavorful and had Yum yum sauce on the side. It was tasty enough that it didn't need any additions. Fresh and filling. The miso was very bland, barely had any tofu, seaweed, or flavor. Salad was good but it's hard to mess up lettuce with ginger dressing. The sushi was not good. Fish didn't taste fresh, no umami, rice flavorless. Price for everything was very affordable. Of the items, the fried rice was the most (& maybe only) thing worth it though."
