The historic building at 1437 Washington Avenue has been a feed store since the late 1800s and is the only remaining structure of the three original feed stores in Grand Haven. With original features like an aged tin ceiling, weathered floor, exposed brick, and repurposed barn wood, the building retains its charm and history. The addition of a greenhouse in the late 1990s transformed the business into The City Farmer Garden Center, offering a wide variety of products for gardening and pet care.
Owned by Kevin Tuuk since January 2000, The City Farmer continues to thrive and expand, now offering lawn and landscape services as well. November 30, after the second snowfall and after calling several times, we finally raked and bagged them ourselves so as not to have our grass destroyed by the decaying leaves. When we would call, we were met with cold and unapologetic, “we’ll get to them but won’t guarantee when”."
