"I highly suggest you shop elsewhere for your speciality woods. I placed an order for $300 containing various basswood and birch wood sheets and got some of the worst quality materials I’ve ever purchased. Their online ordering doesn’t have live inventory. Meaning just because you order and pay for something doesn’t mean they will actually ship it. This was the case for 1 of the products I ordered. Because this was out of stock, it dropped my order below the free shipping threshold and I was immediately charged an additional $23 for shipping without any communication from Balsa USA. It was eventually refunded after a phone call . 3/32 Aircraft grade birch was warped beyond use. $73 wasted. They claim all of their birch is warped yet photos online show flat, perfect sheets. 1/32 basswood sheets - ordered 15 and all 15 were a different thickness. Some measuring near 1/64”. When I called customer service they said “if you need it exact you need to call us and tell us” . The item is listed as 1/32 basswood no phone call should be needed to ensure I receive the correct thickness . I also ordered 3’ balsa sticks and all were snapped in half. Balsa USA said “I suppose we could replace them for you” . I emailed asking for a fair discount on some of the materials and they stopped replying to emails. As a business owner myself I can’t imagine providing such a poor experience to a customer. This was the first and last time I will do business with Balsa USA."
