"PLEASE READ IF YOU ALREAY HAVE HEALTH ISSUES AND ARE CONSIDERING MOVING INTO THIS BUILDING. I have a SEVERE mold problem in my bathroom tub. It grows black mold in it every 4-7 days even when I clean it with boiling water and white vinegar and scrub it for 10 minutes. Before I leave my apartment for long periods of time to go back to my parents house, I clean the tub extremely well anticipating/preparing for black mold growth in the tub. So, when I left for Christmas break for about 3 weeks (again I cleaned the tub right before I left) I was welcomed with black mold caked on half of my bathtub. It was so bad you couldn’t even see the tub floor. This was the WORST my bathtub has ever been. I felt that my safety and health was at risk because this building also does not have central air throughout the building. Each room only has an AC/heating unit so you’re breathing in the same air from your room all the time meaning I’m only breathing in the same moldy air 24/7. So, once I saw the mold growth I immediately put in a maintenance request and left my apartment and stayed somewhere else until it was dealt with. I explained in my request that there has always been a mold issue in my bathtub, but nothing to this extent. I also explained that it looks like there are cracks in the tub itself meaning there’s most likely mold and mildew growing under the tub making the mold continuously grow back no matter how well I clean it. Thankfully maintenance does come and clean it for me the following day. But then what message does the head of the maintenance department Steve Burgess send me after? He proceeds to explain that cleaning the apartment is the resistents responsibility and that I will be charged a cleaning fee for the next time this happens. And then after I explain to him again that I understand I’m supposed to clean my unit and bathtub (which I do every other day to prevent mold) he then sends me the definition of how mold grows in a bathtub from soap scum and mildew even after I explained to him this mold grew AFTER I scrubbed my tub clean meaning there was no soap scum or mildew to clean or for the mold to grow onto. Steve Burgess still blamed me for the mold growth and decided not to look further into my mold issue. Overall, don’t live at the union unless you wanna get sick constantly from mold issues and enjoy living in a dirty building that’s barely taken care of."

"This place is a complete DUMP.....it was fine when my daughter first moved in a couple of years ago, but the current management is a joke. The halls are littered with trash (including most recently pads/tampons), beer pong parties going on at the end of her hallway, filthy conditions, trash overflowing - and this is every day, not just after a big sporting event or holiday. No response from the manager after I tried to contact him multiple times. They obviously don't care.....just want our money. Avoid this place at all costs."

"I am compelled to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the Union at Dearborn, as my experience has been marred by a series of unprofessional and negligent actions on their part. Firstly, the issue of unauthorized entry into my apartment is a gross violation of privacy and security. It is shocking and deeply concerning that a member of the union office staff entered my living space without any authorization, took a parcel addressed to my friend, and did so without any valid explanation or consent. This incident alone raises serious questions about the competence and integrity of the management. Moreover, the persistent problems with maintenance exacerbate my frustration. Despite numerous complaints about a malfunctioning window that has persisted for several months, there has been no tangible effort to address the issue. The promises made by the management to rectify the situation have proven empty, leaving me in an uncomfortable and unresolved living situation. The lack of action regarding cracks in the wall/ceiling further illustrates the negligent approach of the Union at Dearborn. Assurances were given, but there has been no concrete follow-through. It is unacceptable to make promises to residents and then fail to deliver on those commitments. In addition to these issues, I cannot overlook the apparent discrimination among residents in terms of responsiveness and attention. Such differential treatment fosters an atmosphere of inequality and undermines the trust that residents should have in the management. In summary, the Union at Dearborn's conduct is unacceptable, ranging from unauthorized entry to negligence in addressing maintenance issues. Prospective residents should be aware of these serious shortcomings, and I strongly discourage anyone from considering the Union at Dearborn as a place of residence."

"This apartment is undoubtedly the worst living space I've encountered. The leasing office management is incredibly rude, prioritizing money over residents' well-being. They unjustly charged our apartment multiple times, even for minor issues like untied trash bags. Despite having a camera in front of our room, they refused to address concerns and levied additional fees. The room's persistent foul smell induces headaches. Considering the facilities, this apartment is unreasonably expensive. I recommend seeking an alternative place slightly farther from the university; cleaner and more affordable options are available."

"I’ve been a resident of the Union at Dearborn since 2018 before moving out this August. Over my time is a Resident, I’ve gotten to see the amazing changes that the new management has made for the Union At Dearborn. Fully furnished apartments, with high-quality appliances and countertops, as well as a community that allows for students to have an amazing college housing experience. However, the Union, just like other places has its own issues. Slow response to maintenance issues at times (Going two weeks without air-conditioning during a heatwave), Random mornings with no hot water (which are very very rare), and lack of communication with residents on scheduled maintenance (particularly with the Internet service) But I feel that the amazing benefits of living at the Union) outweigh the small Inconveniences that residents face no matter where they live. Close proximity to Campus, clean facilities, friendly staff and neighbors, Great resident activities such as barbecues And movie nights, And especially a management team that values its residents and It goes above and beyond and trying to provide an amazing college housing opportunity. As much as certain certain issues may have irritated me during my time, living there, such as a loud neighbor or ac outage, I can confidently say that I loved living at the Union for those five years And would happily suggest that anyone live at the Union] if they’re looking for a good college housing Experience. 9 Stars out of 10. Keep up the amazing work and I can’t wait to see what improvements The Union continues to make. Ps: Try food truck days on the property through the month. Great opportunity to get great food to the students and gives us something to look forward to on the calendar"
