"Borderline scammers, took my money and ran. TLDR: Advertised an apartment that was not ready at agreed date. Pressured for me to send in a holding deposit and sign by said date otherwise price would go up. Then after payment, kept pushing back my move in date until it made no functional or financial sense to rent with them, so I had to cancel. They refuse to give back holding deposit. Apartment advertised for Jan 31. I pay to submit my app on Dec 26. Approved in a day and they tell me to send in a holding deposit of $150.I mail out the money same day. I ask them when I can schedule a viewing. They ignore my email. Jan 2 they email and call me to say they still haven’t received the deposit. I provide photo and tracking evidence that it was delivered. They ‘find’ it and only now, they tell me that I won’t be able to view the apartment until the 31st –– on the same day as the signing. I tell them I am uncomfortable with that; and ask if I can view the apartment on the 31st, then sign later after thinking. They say if I do that, the rent will increase in price compared to if I signed on the 31st by $50 a month. Shady. So, after ALL this inflexibility –– on Jan 26 they email me to tell me the apartment won’t be ready on time. Not apologetically, I’d add. They say I still have to come in to sign on the to get the lower price, but I won’t be able to see the apartment or move in. Like what? I repeat that I’m not signing until I’ve both seen the apartment and had time to think about it. They push the date back again. The date has been pushed back so far that it no longer works with my schedule or finances. It also leaves a bad taste they were so heavy handed about Jan 31, then so nonchalant about messing up my entire schedule due to their false advertising. It feels like they’re just stringing me along, and AirBnBs are costly. I ask for my holding deposit back –– because they’ve essentially changed the contract. A holding deposit, as the name suggests, should be for apartments they’re HOLDING for me, not for an apartment they’re keeping me on the hook for. Why should I pay THEM so that they can guarantee THEY have a renter when they finish fixing up the apartment, weeks or months into the future? To this they say: “Unforetunely [sic] your holding fee will be forfeited do [sic] to you cancelling your application. You still have the option to move in… If you are still considering cancelling your application your holding deposit is forfeited.” They also send me the document I signed and highlight item 4 “I understand that the cancellation of my application, once it has been approved, will result in the forfeiture of my reservation deposit.” I point out that item 3 says “I understand that any change to the move-in date my result in the forfeiture of my reservation deposit.” and question if they don’t hold themselves to the same standard. They reply “Number 3 on the holding agreement form is referring to if YOU change the move in date not us. Do [sic] to you cancelling your move in, your holding fee will be forfeited.” They continue: “I explained to you before that I had to move you in by the 31st in order to honor the special you were applying with that expired on the 31st, that special since then has been extended. We are also still giving you the option to move in.” They phrase it like they’re doing me a favor. Ask yourself, is it reasonable that they can keep pushing back the date to a date where incompatible with me, then keep the deposit because I’m not longer going to sign now? If they pushed the date out 6 months, they’d still blame ME because they’re still “giving” me the option to move in, except not on the date originally agreed upon. Seems like a pretty convenient loophole for them to exploit to keep my holding deposit. Anyways, maybe you’ll have a better experience. I didn’t"

"I've lived here for 12 yrs. I thank God for a place of my own, but at the same time fox point. Princeton properties are all about the money, I don't bother them or see them except on the 1st o each month. The building I live in ALWAYS SMELLS BAD U HAVE A CHOICE OF WEED GARBAGE FOOD OR JUST FUNKY. NOW LIK I SAID IV BEEN HERE. WHILE RENT HAS WENT UP WITH EACH YR. WITH NO UPGRADES TO THE APARTMENT, THE AREA WHERE U EAT HAS CARPET (STUPID) IN ORDER TO GET A UPDATED APARTMENT U AVE TO MOVE TO ANOTHER UNIT AND YES PAY ANOTHER DEPOSIT. (YEP I DONE THAT) . IF U HAVE NEIGHBORS THAT ARE LOAD U HAVE TO MAKE A COMPLAINT (YEA THE PERSON PERSON KNOWS. (Which isn't unsafe. The apartments only seems to care to geis because I was told today after 7months blinds aren't important (which I've been waiting for, fr 7 while months. A window in one of the bedrooms that have been broken forever and a patio if a Fire I would surely DIE. The new office women, the one who puts a smile on her face when talking with you her name is Miranda, she very nice, the other one not so friendly she really doesn't seem like she gad about any of the residents , I use to refer people but now I'm not too sure"

"Current resident of this place (4/6/2021). Some of the higher rated reviews on google are not reflective of my experiences living here. As I am currently writing this review, I am dealing with a soaked bathroom floor that is completely covered with foul water from an overflowed toilet due to a random clog that I did not cause. This is an example of some things you might go through if you plan to live here. I don’t usually write reviews on apartments and I give properties chances to make things right but I think this place warrants one. Here is a list to summarize the major points: PROs: -Apartments close to Bloomfield Hills where there’s lots to do and a 15min drive to Oakland University. -maintenance and office eventually respond to you, staff may appear friendly but quality of service and building is lacking, more on that later.. -decent living space for 1 bedroom with ample closet space -appliances are somewhat functional -free heat/water and option to buy a covered parking spot for extra monthly fee of $15 -public washer dryer that uses a card loaded with bills, instead of quarters -the maintenance guy (Kevin) is helpful and tries his best to fix up the place -they perform routine carpet cleanings and leave salt+shovel in public areas for winter. Unfortunately this is where the pros end. Now for the negative experiences. CONs: -noisy and inconsiderate neighbors (upstairs neighbor blasts his music, you can hear people outside arguing, shouting, talking late at night, random broken beer bottles/cigar wrappers tossed out on the ground outside) -quality of living feels cheap (doors don’t close all the way as if they were fitted incorrectly, carpets are ancient and contained subtle residual stains, the light fixture in the bedroom was disassembled on move in day, window blinds constantly fall off tracks, broken locks to main door/keys don’t fit properly bc they might have been copied too much which is huge safety risk, place doesn’t feel secure) -apt is outdated (overflowing toilets, leaky ceilings from poor drainage systems or neighbors flooding their floors above, food debris/garbage appearing in dishwasher from connected dishwasher from neighbor’s apartment- how does that even happen?!, unfinished repairs just left there for resident to deal with) -trains blaring their horns multiple times at night -when I moved in, the leasing office told me that there was a burned area on my kitchen counter and they assured me they would replace it ASAP. It never got done. (It wasn’t a big deal to me but responses are inconsistent). -smell of marijuana or foul odors permeating some of the residential common areas that I need to hold my breath to pass. - to my knowledge, there are only 2 maintenance staff who work on the entire apartment complex. I’m certain because I’ve had to call maintenance multiple times and one of two guys would consistently show up. They are incredibly slow to respond to an emergency order even when it involves massive flooding of their property. Not their fault but still reflective of poor service and management nonetheless (short-staffed and under resourced) -value: These apartments are not worth my $700/month, especially if I have to deal with multiple issues that are out of my control. Update on the toilet: Both maintenance guys showed up, could not fix the clog, didn’t tell me their plans to fix the toilet and just left. I didn’t plan on babysitting my apt the whole day but I will now in case something else breaks. Overall, the word that best describes living here at Foxpoint Apartments is “Stressful”. It’s a shame too since this place looked like it had so much potential in terms of being a great place to live at an affordable price but overtime you will notice some bigger flaws that are not worth your time, money and peace of mind. My advice to anyone thinking about leasing here is take your money and go spend it on a place that cares about their property and resident comfort. Because of these issues, I will not be renewing my lease"

"We looked around the Centerville/ Kettering area for a decent apartment, and we received by far the best customer service while checking out the Chimneys and Fox Hunt apartments. The staff in the leasing office were very friendly and knowledgable, and we are looking forward to moving into this complex. Plus the model apartments smell great."
