"Wonderful winter wonderland stay. Snow shoeing, skiing, horseback riding, snowmobiling - all right here. Super surprising to me as we had never been to Alanson. I do like the real fire stove and snow trail outside. House fully equipped, no need to really bring anything for kitchen or bathrooms. Will come back in the summer!"

"Scoutpost is a time traveler’s experience with modern comfort. The vibe of the farmhouse brought us back to the rural north with fun finds along the way. There’s plenty of room for a large group. We were a group of six, plenty of sleep space with new linens and luxurious duvets. Lots of space on the ground floor for group activities around the long log dining table, and in the large living room. There’s surprisingly plenty of space for at least six to sit in the kitchen and enjoy the nature views through the two large windows overlooking the property while enjoying complimentary morning coffee or tea from the beverage station. Modern amenities include many outlets to charge your computer, phones, or whatever, especially for an older lodge. There’s cable wifi television with streaming in the living room and google nest speakers for music in several rooms. A modern stove, refrigerator and microwave plus plenty of kitchen and tableware round out the kitchen amenities. The water from the tap is absolutely the best water you will find. Now to the fun stuff…treasures to find exist wherever you look, from the record player with funky old records to play to retro toys and classic board games. A working wood stove provides cozy heat on a cold evening. Going through the house to look at the paintings and fun decorations was a treat. Walking the property is a quiet bond with nature. If you’re lucky, you may even see deer near the apple tree. The apples from the old tree, probably a Macintosh variety, are plentiful and delicious, so do not miss it if you book in the Fall. Bluebird nesting boxes dot the field in front of the barn. I’m looking forward to going back when the vineyard is in its fullness. Also, a walk around the barn and a peek into the potting shed is a throwback to another time. Day tripping is a breeze whether you want to explore Petoskey and Harbor Springs, ski at Boyne Mountain or cross the Mackinac Bridge into the UP. You won’t be far from any of the great experiences of Northern Michigan. Locally, do not miss going to The Dutch Oven Bakery or filling an empty jug with water from the artesian spring in Alanson to bring home."
