"My husband and I hiked this yesterday and it was beautiful. However we couldn’t make it all the way around the lake. At the creek inlet (Bellows?) the hill was too steep and worn down. Didn’t fancy a tumble into the creek. We may have missed a trail marker or something but didn’t notice one when we turned around and went back the way we came. Still I would highly recommend this trail. Especially if you are looking for a peaceful spot!"

"Went for a walk in the rain and it was beautiful with the fall colors. The path around the lake has a lot of roots so a stroller can be difficult, but the 0.4 mile path to the lake is very flat and smooth. Loved our time here!"

"As other hikers have noted, watch for roots. It's a short hike, a little over two miles. Beautiful scenery. Be sure to take the path up the steep-sided ravine to the Parson's Center. It's gorgeous. If you hike a little way north on Bellows Lake Rd., there is another trail on the Parson's Center property. That trail is on the east side of the road."

"Though only my second visit, I have grown to love this little slice of paradise. The parking lots are well-maintained. The parking lot off of Lake Ann Road features a wheelchair accessible outhouse and handicap access to a viewing platform overlooking Ransom Lake. The trail is easy to follow around the lake and affords breathtaking views of the lake and its shoreline vegetation. The natural area is host to myriad deciduous and coniferous tree species, along with a variety of ferns and other forest floor dwelling vegetation. The trail is quite easy to walk, as it's mostly flat. Just watch underfoot for exposed doot systems! While not highlighted, Random Creek runs along the trail to the viewing platform. This creek is also worth the visit alone. In all, beauty abounds at this natura area. Plan at least 2 hours to fully explore the natural area. And, as always, bring a camera and water. :) Visit the Grand Traverse Regional Land Conservancy's website for more information and directions."
