"Anyone saying "it doesn't look like a skull, 1 star" etc is an idiot who doesn't know how to read. If they did know how to read, they would see the little plaque in front of it saying that it's called that for the skulls found in it (it was a native American burial site). It isn't all that exciting, but don't be disappointed just because you can't read and have watched pirates of the caribbean too much"

"Don’t waste your time walking up the big hill for this. Thought it was a cave you could walk thru and explore but it doesn’t look like a cave at all, just another rock formation and not much of a sight to see, doesn’t even resemble a skull whatsoever."

"Skull Cave, isn't what most people expect. You are not supposed to get near it, it's blocked off for the most part. The story says that it used to be much larger, large enough for a horse to fit inside, but that people collapsed most of it over the years, as the limestone was brittle, so now it's much less of a cave and more of a hole in a rock. Many people will tell you it's not worth the hike, but you walk right past it to see so many other things, why not stop and check it out. It was a nice little stopping point for us to take a short hike break with the dogs, and watch a few horse and carriages go by!"

"More like Dull Cave. We were told it used to be much larger - large enough for horse and carriage to travel through. Some college kids decades ago managed to collapse most of it. Again, that's what we were told. Accuracy not guaranteed. We were also told that it was never shaped like a skull. It's only that a white man hid there by a Native American happened upon heaps of skulls and bones in the cave, that it became be known as Skull Cave. Not worth the trek up the hill to see it. However, makes for an eery and then humorous point of interest on a carriage tour."

"This located near Arch Rock on beautiful Mackinaw Island. If you take a carriage tour of the island, this is one of the stops on your tour. It is an eerie story about a dark time in the island's history. If you decide to bike or walk the island, stop and check it out. Read the placard and get a little history. Continue on to Arch Rock for as spectacular view of Lake Huron and Mother Nature's art work. Mackinaw is another Pure Michigan must see."
