"UPDATE 12/20: I'm bumping them up from one to three stars since Grainger's was good enough to politely respond. I'll consider giving them another try in the future... The LOCAL offices of Grainger, DESPITE the fact that they advertise LOCALLY on LOCAL TV as a service for LOCAL SMALL BUSINESS, DO NOT ANSWER THEIR OWN PHONE LINES! ALL calls are routed to some NATIONAL call center. So this idea that Grainger regularly advertises that they are responsive to LOCAL SMALL BIZ OWNERS' NEEDS - is FALSE. GRAINGERS needs to have a NATIONAL POLICY which DICTATES to all staff that the people who STAFF their LOCAL OFFICES - should answer their OWN PHONE LINES! So LOCAL OFFICES can respond to whether or not they have specific part numbers IN STOCK FOR LOCAL PICKUP SAME DAY! When the Grangers CEO IMPLEMENTS that, I will change my one-star rating to a FIVE STAR rating. UNTIL that happens, they get ONE STAR FROM ME, because their CEO and Board of DIRECTORS are NOT RESPONSIVE to local small BUSINESS OWNERS NEEDS! I say this as a small biz owner that knows there is not ONE ITEM that I can ONLY buy at Grainger's and NOT get it shipped to me overnight by someone else. If I want to buy LOCAL, I want it TODAY, and I want to talk to someone at my HOME office TODAY, to see if I can drive a few miles to pick it up in a few minutes, TODAY! GRAINGERS needs to DUMP their NATIONAL CALL CENTER and GO WITH LOCAL STAFF and INTEGRATE their parts database with local stores and UNTIL THEY DO THAT, they will continue to LOSE MARKET SHARE and LIKELY GO OUT OF BUSINESS and LOSE to someone like AMAZON down the street. Their local offices ALSO should stay open until FIVE O CLOCK which are BUSINESS HOURS. The way Grainger's has it set up NOW, is that they operate on BANKER HOURS and if you don't know what that means, then you should not be in any MANAGMENT position at GRAINGERS."
