"Let me share a recent experience. I took my car in recently for a front end check/possible alignment. I was told the front left lower control arm and sway bar link were bad, price of $830 to replace. I had the part replaced for 200 but the person I had doing mentioned that it didn't seem bad and that the other side was where all the movement was coming from! I drove the car a couple days and it was in fact dangerous! I replaced the control arm on the other side for another 200 and had the car aligned. Drives great! The moral of this story is that not only was the initial diagnosis (which I paid for!) incorrect but it led to my driving with a dangerous condition when it was determined to be the wrong control arm. I now have 2 new control arms installed with the car aligned for roughly $450. Just about half of what the initial repair would have been! Lets speculate that if I had them do the repair and they had uncovered their mistake would it have then been 1600 plus to replace both control arms? The lower left one possibly not needing it? A reader can draw their own conclusions!"
