About the Business
Dan's Bike Shop, located at 350 West Main Street in Ionia, Michigan, has been a staple in the community since the early 40's. Originally known as Vern's under the leadership of Vern Vos, the shop transitioned to Dan's Bike Shop in the 1970's when Vern's son Dan took over. Fast forward to the present day, and the shop is now run by Gary Ferguson and his family, continuing the tradition of providing exceptional service and products to the cycling community.
Our mission at Dan's Bike Shop remains the same - to provide our customers with the knowledge, access, and services they need to keep rolling on two wheels. Whether you're in need of repairs, looking for new or used parts and bikes, or simply want to chat about all things cycling, our friendly team is here to help.
In addition to our shop offerings, we also provide detailed maps of the cycling and outdoor opportunities in the area. Explore the Fred Meijer Mid-West Michigan Trail Network, connect to the Chief Cob-moo-sa mountain bike trail, or take a leisurely ride to the Ionia State Recreation Area. "Stopped in on a busy Saturday, and I was immediately greeted by Gary. I haven't been on a bike regularly in years, but knew I wanted something better than the economy bikes offered at big box stores. I'm so glad I stopped here! Gary gave me a few bike recommendations based on the kind of riding I'd be doing, and answered all of my questions (even the silly ones!) I never felt like I was getting a sales pitch - he was very genuine and helpful, and just wanted to make sure the bike I got met my needs. He even took the time to give me some additional instruction on the unfamiliar parts of the bike (I'd never seen a paddle shifter before), as well as some adjustment suggestions for after I get used to it. I ended up purchasing his first recommendation that day. I took it for a spin around the neighborhood, and it is so fun to ride. So happy I stopped by, and will definitely be coming back for all my future biking needs. Thank you Gary!"
"I have been doing business with Gary the better part of 10 years. I can say unequivocally he will always have my business. Besides his complete knowledge of the industry, Gary's personal help is second-to-none. You can go to any bike shop, buy a bike, and take it home. The key to me is service after the purchase. i have dropped in many times with my bike(s) over the years and he will at least look at it, if not fix it right there, often not charging me for quick fixes. He provides all options on purchases along with repairs and maintenance and has never tried to take advantage of my lack of understanding something. All in all, you won't find a better place to buy a bike or someone as knowledgeable or fair. I will never go outside Dan's Bike Shop for my biking needs."
