"Medically retired veteran here. I suffered a Brain injury over 10 years ago. I have seen many Psychiatrist since then, due to military moves and different hospitals. Dr. Bernstein is not one to really "listen" to you and what you are experiencing. I suffered a Frontal lobe injury. Thus I have impulse and anxiety issues. He prescribed me a medication called Lamictal. Doesn't really do anything for my condition. When I explained this to him, he only increases the dosage. I have complained about my consistent migraines as well. Never once did he acknowledge my concerns with how frequent they are. He is very educated, I am sure. Although it seems as if he has made up his mind before really hearing you out and figuring out what you need. I have yet to have an appointment that lasts more than 5-10 minutes. Been a patient for 2 years. I am seeking care elsewhere. As I said before, I have seen other psychiatrists in the past. Never have I felt neglected until now!"

"Dr. Burnstein was my doctor for almost 9 months. I have never felt more terrible about an experience at a doctor. He never listens and even scolds you when you take up too much of his energy. He has already made up his mind about you and does not care about what you have to say. He never saw me for more than 5 minutes. I left crying on several occasions because of how terrible he made me feel. He prescribed medication that did not help my symptoms and did not change it even when I told him I did feel any improvements, and in fact the medication was making my condition worse. I have a new psychiatrist now and would caution anyone who is considering Dr. Burnstein. The office staff is always looking sloppy in sweatpants with dirty hair. I couldn't believe how unprofessional they were. I have never experienced anything so awful. I would give him zero stars if I could."

"Worst psychiatrist I have ever seen. I have been diagnosed with ADHD with anxiety since I was 8 years old. I am now a 22 year old Army veteran. On my second appointment Dr. Bernstein tells me that what I'm feeling isn't real and the ADHD medicine cannot possibly affect my anxiety in any way. Any attempt to say otherwise resulted in him interrupting me and not allowing me to speak. He attempted to prescribe me neurotin (gabapentin) for my anxiety. I didn't recognize the name at first but when I got home I realized what it was. My wife and her mother both have neurological diseases and have been prescribed gabapentin for quite sometime. I have a lot of experience in and knowledge of the drug. When I called and asked for something different because I wasn't comfortable with taking it he asked me why. I told him that I have a lot of experience with the drug and it is not FDA rated for that type of treatment so I do not feel comfortable taking it. He proceeded to literally say I am uneducated and when I asked to be transferred to the front desk he raised his voice with me demanding that I listen up because I am not educated enough to make decisions. Then to top it all off the office would not allow me to see anyone else leaving me stuck without a psychiatrist. I have never been so disrespected before in my life and this type of treatment definitely doesn't help with the terrifying number of veterans who refuse to seek help and end up losing the battle. I personally will never be returning to this office."
