"Recently, my father was diagnosed with HFrEF and sick sinus syndrome. He underwent a pacemaker procedure, but he has only been seen by physician assistants, not a cardiologist. The conflicting advice from different PAs and the constant changes in medication create confusion, leaving us without a clear plan of action."

"I had a terrible experience with this office. I needed a heart monitor for a week. They only schedule them on Tuesdays, and it takes forever to get an appt. The staff was ok (only ok) when going into the office. The nurse who put the monitor on was very nice and knowledgeable. Now comes the terrible part. I get a bill from their 3rd party vendor who they use for the monitors. It was $1,500. They had billed my insurance $9,000 for a 7-day heart monitor. Now, the bill said 30-day heart monitor. I call and this vendor tells me that it doesn't matter if you have the monitor for 2 days or 30 days, they bill everyone the same. I tell them I am not paying the same rate for 7 days as someone who uses it for 30 days. They then tell me that I picked the most expensive monitor. I tell the vendor that I did not have a choice. Now, my PCP who ordered the monitor showed me her laptop screen that showed a cost of $99 before I had the monitor placed. I had not met my deductible, so I was expecting it to be a little more, but this was ridiculous. I called Trinity Health Michigan Heart (the office that placed the monitor) and said I wanted to speak to an office manager. The receptionist asked for an explanation as she thought she could help. After hearing me, she agreed that I needed to speak to the office manager. I left a message over 2 weeks ago and have not heard back. My main issue is that they do not provide any information upfront about this procedure. Not who their vendor is, not the cost, not the type of monitor, nothing. There is no way for a patient to research out if insurance covers it and how much. It almost seems by design that they don't provide information. If they did, many people would opt out and they would lose money. So, I was hoping to save another person from having the terrible experience that I did. I refuse to pay the outrageous bill. They are charging an unreasonable price (30 days for 7 days of use). It is the first time in my life that I have not paid a medical bill. Also, the 3rd party vendor that they use is BioTel / CardioNet (same company). This company has paid nearly $50 million to the DOJ in fines for violations of the False Claims Act (in part because they rendered services that "were not reasonable"). If your doctor wants you to get a heart monitor, steer clear of this place. They will not provide information upfront so that you can make an informed decision. Find another solution."

"The receptionist and office manager have zero people skills. Called to cancel my mom’s appointment because she DIED and the woman acted like I was bothering her and put me on hold repeatedly. Did not say anything about how it was sad their patient passed away. I personally stopped going there due to repeated miscommunications about appointment times. The information was delivered so rudely I couldn’t believe it. They literally said that they don’t make mistakes regarding appointment times, only patients do. No empathy, no caring about how it may have affected their patient’s schedule. She also stated that she did nothing wrong."

"Cathy the receptionist at the office is very friendly and accommodating. she took the time to make sure everything was right for my mothers upcoming appointments. We have dealt with many of the physicians at Michigan heart and they have all taken the time to explain things in an easy to understand way . I like this office because they are for the most part very timely and friendly . I would highly recommend them to anyone needing cardiac care."

"Horrible experiences trying to make appointments here. The front desk/receptionist staff are beyond rude. They have no compassion and are in the wrong field. I took my ailing mother there after she was hospitalized and told by the cardiologist to follow-up with him in 7-10 days in the office. It took over a month to get the appointment...after I got mom there, we checked in and then the receptionist called me back up and told me we would have to reschedule because the doctor was delayed on an emergency. The next available appointment is not until another month! Are you kidding me! Number one.. no phone call to at least let me know not to come..it’s not easy for my mom to get around..she is frail! That is why we were going there! When I told her to please get her a sooner appointment as I didn’t know if mom would even survive that long, her response was to go to the emergency room then... I wonder if she has a mother? It wasn’t my first time there... so I have dealt with these people before..I watch how they talk to patients. Very sad to say the least. No compassion or empathy. However, when a doctor walks by, it’s all smiles and attitude changes.. the doctor tells you they want to see you in 7-10 days for a very serious heart condition, but a office receptionist making life and death decisions delays it by 2 months! What’s wrong here.?"
