"We just threw our sons 5th Birthday day party at The Van Buren Hotel and they did not disappoint! They're conference rooms are perfect size for a family gathering!Thank you for such a wonderful time and a clean and fun environment!"

"Sadly not a good experience. I came here during my third trimester of pregnancy, with a 1yo, to celebrate his birthday and my birthday (1day apart) with the hope to relax. I checked their website before booking and nowhere it says that they’re doing renovations that started in August (a long time going on since it’s now January). So I get here to a room where they had people working next to us, they disrupted my baby’s nap twice the same day leaving me with a grumpy baby. I couldn’t take a nap either. I asked front desk for help about the noise and they made them stop once but 15min after I called which still made my baby wake up. There was no manager that day to talk to. Next day I talked to the “assistant manager” just to be treated with a cold attitude even though I was being nice, I found no empathy but she did mention that I had a dog and that’s why I was there, but that they were not working that day. So at least I got one quiet day out of 3. She also mentioned that I booked through a third party website, when I ask why is that relevant she avoided to answer that question. I went online to figure out what that has to do with anything, I’m ignorant because I rarely book hotels. Well I learned that hotels don’t like when you do that because they get charged a fee from third party websites so it is better to book with the hotel directly. I also found out that when you do that they give you no priority over other guests, they pretty much punish you for it and that’s how I felt by the assistant manager’s attitude toward us. She demonstrated that she didn’t care about what I told her and she wasn’t interested on helping in any way. The workers were done for the day but I did not like her response saying “well you booked through a third party website so…” Not very nice. So I guess I learned a lesson here. The only good thing was the pool, it’s super warm and nice to be in. You guys need to be nicer to customers."

"I was bitten by some type of insect or spider more than 20 times while sleeping. When we asked for bedding change, a housekeeper told us she had been bitten as well and showed us her marks to compare. A manager neglected to come to our room to discuss the matter but offered a room change via sending a different housekeeper. That same morning at breakfast my wife was given a moldy gluten-free muffin. We chose not to finish our reservation. We were not offered a refund when we checked out early. We have stayed here several times over the past 7 years but are seeing a decline in service."

"The hotel is easy to find since it’s right off the main road. It is quiet too. It is in serious need of updating. I know they are working on doing so currently. Our room had a stained chair and blinds. There was floor tile missing in the bathroom. The carpet needs to be replaced. Beds were small and hard. I don’t see how it’s a queen since my full bed at home is bigger. The fridge and microwave in each room are a nice bonus. It is a very small fridge. The rooms are small with an amazingly large bathroom. The hot breakfast could use more options. I would have loved fresh fruit beyond an apple. The staff was ok - they did their jobs. This is not a cheap hotel but currently felt like a La Quinta."

"Very clean, good bedding and beds. Quiet, comfortable, lots of hot water. We didn't try the pool, but you could not smell chlorine in the lobby, which is a plus. Free breakfast featured biscuits and gravy, eggs, sausage and 2 waffle makers. Good value for the money."
