"The owner/managers were crabby. They have their relatives living in some of the rooms and they drink and fight with one another. There was no blanket on my bed; just a sheet and bedspread. The paint in the bathroom was still wet and the shampooed carpet, as well. What appeared to possibly be a bullet hole was in the rooms window. The price couldn't be beat. I have no complaints. It was my sweethearts and mine love nest for a week, six years ago. We are married now and living in St Louis,MO. Neither of us would change a thing with Pecks Motel."

"There were bugs in the room we did not notice upon inspection until the next day me and my fiancee are clean freaks and constantly clean 3-5 times a day never had bugs ever and he blames us saying we brought the bugs when I have physically watched them come out of the drains and refused to give us our deposit"

"Prepaid $175 for a week to check in next day. Had to pay cash because they dont take cards. Female who answered door bell advised that room had to be cleaned and she and her husband both advised that ac/heat unit was not working but that space heater had been placed in room. I advised that was not an issue as my friend who would be staying there would not be checking in until the next day and probably wouldn't use the heat anyway. I did not check room until check in the next day. Female showed my friend, who was to stay in the room, to the room at check in in her bath robe. Another guest came out of their room to ask for a status update on the repair of the heat in their room and the female took a moment to yell at the guest before proceeding to show my friend to the room I had paid for. My friend decided not to stay there but did not say anything as there was a sign that there are no refunds. The next day, I went back to look at the room myself. It did not smell clean, the bed was not made properly, there was a stained towel thrown over the curtain rod for the shower, and when the light and fan in the bathroom were turned on at the same time, the test breaker in the bathroom outlet blew and the light went off. No one answered the door bell so I called the husband on his cell as he had advised when I paid for the room (as he advised that someone had knocked out the line for the office some time prior and it had never been fixed). I advised that I was calling to let him know that no one would be using the room and advised as noted above. He proceeded to yell at me, ask repeatedly if I was done complaining, and to advise that he could not refund the money (though I had not requested a refund), that he was the owner (though he had advised when I paid for the room that the owner owned a gas station in town), that the issue with the bathroom light was not a fire hazard (though I know better), thay the towel over the curtain rod was not dirty (he said he just threw it in there so we wouldn't have to step on to the bare bathroom floor), and that he was a veteran and could only do so much. I advised that I understood his predicament given what I had learned about him, his wife, and her son in the brief contact I had had with them, and asked where I should leave the key. He advised that I could leave it in the box then said it was better to lock it in the room. I did so and left. They get 1 star because 0 stars was not an option. Professionalism goes a long way. $175 is a full day's labor for me, but I was willing to eat it because I took responsibility for not checking the room before paying when I too had seen the notice that there were no refunds. However, the management's lack of professionalism makes it difficult for me to emphasize with any struggles they may be facing. Suggestions: have the wife begin by cleaning the hell out of the office and the front room of the area where they stay, have the grown son who also lives on site help with some of the maintenance duties around the place so that the vet can focus on his health and happiness. I'll even volunteer 10 hours a week to go fix the place up for them without any expectation of compensation."

"Dirty the manager is a control freak and the roof is falling in on you. Also lord help you if you park in the wrong spot or have someone in your room cause you will get yelled at and belittled. The manager stereotyped us and assumed we were on drugs he sent my boyfriend to Rusty's tree service to slave for 50 bucks a day and when he didn't then he got yelled at for it. Do yourself a favor stay away from here it's not worth it"
