"The front desk staff was friendly 75% of the time and the other 25% acted like they didn’t care about their jobs in the slightest. There were 0 accommodations for any food allergies whatsoever involving breakfast (only meal they serve). My rooms had 0 way to turn out the bathroom light and I was told their bathroom lights don’t turn off for fire concerns. I could hear the TV in the rooms on either side of me well past midnight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The mattress and pillows were very comfortable and the location I’ve no idea how good or bad it is except I know it’s nowhere near anything fun. You must request room service. How can you possibly be that cheap?!?!?!?!?! Tell me you can’t afford to operate your hotel without telling me is all I could think about. I mean honestly having to specifically request my room to be cleaned???? Come on y’all learn something about how great service results in repeat business and get it the heck together."

"I stayed at the Cheshire Inn over Christmas ‘23 due to a moving van snafu. Every staff member was friendly, pleasant and helpful —all the time!! I asked them how they did this and they said that it was a good place to work. That was amazing, and shows you what a good working environment can do."

"My husband and I stayed here over Christmas and could not be happier. The rooms were nice and the bed was very comfortable. The staff is above and beyond with their service. They are so nice and personable!!!!!! We will definitely be back. Thank you for a wonderful stay!"

"Cute and unique hotel! Staff are all incredibly friendly. Fireplace was cozy and great to sit near. Free breakfast is slightly above average for a typical free hotel breakfast. Close to Delmar and Forest Park. Area felt safe and parking garage was nice."

"We have stayed at this hotel several times, all due solely to its location. The hotel is unique, for sure, in a good way. However, the staff range from exceptional (and would much prefer to brag on these folks, unfortunately the pleasant interactions have been somewhat limited) to unpleasant and absolutely rude. Example, this morning we went down to get breakfast and the eggs were empty. We waited, without saying anything, for the staff to make several trips to the breakfast nook, each time returning without eggs. After the third trip, I asked as politely as possible if she would be bringing anymore eggs out. She turned her eyes and with all the annoyance she could muster, they have to cook first, and then snickered as she walked away. Come on man, really? We have a prepaid reservation once more this fall and, after that, we will be staying elsewhere when we are at Washington University. Unfortunate for such a potential gem. Maybe the ownership will eventually realize the importance of hiring and training staff that is hospitable in the hospitality industry."
