"I am so happy I found this place!! We loved our stay at Schell's Resort! We were in the area for a truck race at Onaway Speedway (6-7 minute drive). This was just the place we needed after a long day at the track. We stayed in a 2 bedroom/1 bath house- plenty of room for a group of 4. My fiance and I kept commenting on just how cute the place was. The view from the kitchen window (and even the driveway) is just amazing at night. We are from Maryland and used to everything being dark by 8pm --- not here!! The most beautiful views of the sun setting on the lake. We stayed at House #8 which is across the street- very quiet. Nice paved driveway for our truck. Our last night there we were able to enjoy the beach. If we had more time, we would have loved to start a bonfire. Zero complaints. We hope to return for labor day weekend!!"

"Hmm - if they want to lie about making reservations I'll have to note all the mice encountered during the last trip. Don't try to claim the guy who tries to pay in full 1 year in advance suddenly forgot to make a reservation - especially when you had to mail me back my reservation check. I guess with your logic I sent in money to reserve them yet at the same time forgot to reserve them. Try making up something that at least you could defend."

"Like stepping back in time. Nice and clean cabins. Definitely not luxury accommodations but the Schell's are very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much even though the fishing was really bad!"

"The Schell's Resort is a great Michigan lake life getaway. The owners are wonderful people who are welcoming and accommodating. Year after I look forward to seeing Bob and Lynn as much as I look forward to seeing the lake. Black lake has a lot of great fishing opportunity. The Black River which connects to the lake was a favorite spot of Ernest Hemingway's. The location is close to a myriad of northern Michigan hot spots. It's only about an hour away from Mackinac City, Petoskey, Charlevoix, and Harbor Springs. The cabins are equipped with a full kitchen which is great if you want to have a family cookout type of day. The screened in porch offers even more seating so you can invite the neighbors for dinner. The beach is a source of hours of fun in the sand during the day and at night you can enjoy a campfire right on the beach in the fire pit which is flanked on all 4 sides by benches. The row boat provided with the cabin means you'll have access to any part of the lake you think you might hook into some fish. Bring an out board motor of you plan on doing any serious boating on the lake, the lake is seventh largest inland lake in Michigan."
