Motel 6 - Norway MI

"The king suite with the in-room whirlpool tub was key to our good experience at this Motel 6. Although the in-room fireplace did not work, our room was clean, comfortable, and met our expectations. However, exploring the rest of this motel left us certain that, had we been in a different room, we likely would have left without spending the night. The hallway displayed peeling paint and dirty/stained carpets, and there were many awful plug-in air fresheners within a short walk that were clearly failing to overpower an even worse smell, which seemed to permeate the entire second floor of the wing."

"Staff is rude, hotel isn't clean, hot tub barley works, I was 16 weeks pregnant dealing with morning sickness the smells that came from their employees rooms are horrible made it much worse. Cat and dog pee mainly on the second floor past the doors. No breakfast, no soaps in the rooms in the suite above the lobby the wall papers ripping off the wall. They have a whole bunch of employees living there which is fine but these employees have animals and needless to say have wrecked the hotel. Overall I couldn't honestly bring my family here. My 1 year old daughter has respiratory issues and this wasn't a good place for her to stay or be. 0/5 for cleanliness."

"A little history. I've been coming to the hotel for many, many years. In that time, it's changed owners/names about 3 times (not including this latest). As a hunter who comes once a year, it's always been a great place to stay and the staff were super accommodating. To the point of having breakfast ready at 4am so the hunters could eat a little something before heading out. With the new branding, many things have changed and not for the better. Breakfast? There is none, it's just coffee. The rooms were mostly clean. Room amenities (outside of towels and bedding) included a small TV, coffee maker, refrigerator, microwave, and bar hand soap. No body wash, shampoo, or conditioner. The refrigerator in my room worked, but for another in my group, it did not. I completely understand this may just be how Motel 6 operates, which is okay. My ratings are based on my comparison of this stay with all the other times I've stayed at this hotel."

"We recently stayed at this hotel. I had read other reviews online and based on reviews chose to call to ensure that the hot tub was working and the pool was accessible. She checked the hot tub temp and told me it was a little cool and they've had some troubles recently. The pool was open. She was very helpful and I booked the pet friendly room without issue. Room was clean, had been recently painted. Jacuzzi worked, fireplace worked, and it had a nice sized TV. Many things had age, but were well maintained. We would book a room here again when traveling to the UP. Things of note: - TV remote was difficult to use and outdated. - Upstairs hallway is undergoing renovation and has had the wallpaper removed recently. This is cosmetic, and not a concern for us. - My guess is the workers who are doing updates on the hotel are living in the hotel as we had a mixture of smells in the hallway. Our room smelled normal."

"Overall satisfied with stay at Motel6. Reviews had us worried. For my stay, the room was nice, hotel and grounds were nice, wifi worked, Pool and hot tub were clean. The hotel is being renovated, and I am sure we had one of the updated rooms. Staff was friendly to us, and helpful. Only thing missing was breakfast. The stay definitely met my expectations and I would stay at this hotel again."
