North Winds Lodge at Higgins Lake

"Highly Recommend!! I booked a room at Northwinds for a family reunion based solely off the website pics and a few google reviews. I was SO IMPRESSED with the quality and cleanliness of the room. The website pics tell the true story! I’m writing this in August 2023, and I can confirm they DO have air conditioning in the rooms and it gets COLD. The bed IS super comfortable as previous reviews mention. The location of this motel/hotel is primo. We will be coming back next year and I will book at Northwinds again with no hesitation! I told all my family about it and raved about how we could even bring our pontoon up north with us next time because there is AMPLE ROOM to park and exit soooo easily! Another plus for us was the fire pit on the side of the building! They had benches built-in the ground, free firewood, and a ton of space to set up our cornhole set. I felt like we had the benefits of camping with the luxury of a hotel! Last but not least are the friendly owners. They were super helpful, good people. The owner of the hotel owns the pizza joint around the corner. I found out he was a chef in his “previous life” and the pizza we got was really impressive! I can’t wait to try more menu items again next time we visit! Bottom line, Northwinds is a HIDDEN GEM! You will not be disappointed and I would highly recommend giving them a chance to impress you too!!"

"Great location! Near highways, restaurants, kayak,tube,canoe rentals/launches (there's even a small zoo nearby for kids!) paid $118 for 2 double beds. Clean linens, towels, etc. Beds were super comfortable. Nice small refrigerator, microwave & TV. All in all 10/10"

"Second year staying here for a weekend getaway to Higgins lake. Last year the rooms were ok beds were comfy but no air. This year they have air and the rooms have been remodeled since our last stay. The same owner also owns the pizza place a couple buildings down and is super friendly and offered us 10% off our food. Owner is Very helpful and informative. They even have a nice bon fire pit at the end of the building with firewood available for free."

"Beautiful and comfortable place to stay. All brand new everything and the bed is fantastic. So comfy! All newly remodeled. Rooms are spacious. Love that there is a small fridge and microwave in the room. We will definitely be back. UPDATE....Back for stay 2 and it was just as great as the first stay. We booked a double bed room this time because we had our oldest daughter with us. Another great stay in the books! Our place to stay when we come up to see our youngest daughter."

"the only reason I'm giving a 4/5 is just the obvious cheapness like the towels and such aren't of good quality BUT the bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, the best I've ever slept on. the owners/workers are very friendly, room is spacious and easy to get around with crutches. great prices and informative staff about the area, all in all a wonderful business."
