Taylor Dance

"This review is being posted to serve two purposes. First and foremost, I wish to express gratitude to this studio for the years of joy it has brought to our family. Words cannot express the emotions tied into the vast collection of memories accrued from the years spent with Taylor Dance. Not only first person, having danced there myself in my youth, but also having the pleasure to experience it once again, second hand, as my daughter creates her own lasting memories with this wonderful studio. Secondly, I hope this post can serve as an attempt to dispel the incredibly harsh review left by an unnamed source. I hope to assure any readers, this interpretation of the studio is completely untrue. Sadly what this person seems unable to recognize, is that there are families that support and willingly ENJOY helping this business because it brings them joy to do so. There are individuals, myself included, who have done nothing of what they do, out of any reason other than the enjoyment it brings them. What I have offered and assisted with was done so out of respect and belief of what this business offers and provides to our area. Not out of potential gain for my child. All actions have been of MY OWN WANT to be a part of the activity my child feels so passionate about. Including this review. What also seems lost by this individual’s choice of words is the absence of recognition that this studio has two main components. This studio is a not only a recreational dance school that offers classes nightly to accommodate a large number of students in multiple genres and age groupings, but this studio is also a non profit ballet company. How many studios in the southeastern region of Michigan offer the array of genres as Taylor Dance does? With an attached ballet company? Of course, with this amount of offerings there are classes available Mondays thru Saturdays?! I find it incredibly impressive that all of these classes are offered between the hours of 5pm to, at the absolute latest, 9pm on week days. There is even great care placed on arranging the later evening classes to accommodate the upper age ranged high school students ensuring that this amazing line up of genres is available at age appropriate time slots for all that wish to participate! There is no one at this business that is encouraging children to not have any down time or to be at the studio every evening. The children that are there every evening are the ones that WISH to be there. The ones that NEED to be there for their own passions to be fed. It is not fair of you to criticize an entire business if your personal belief is that minimum effort should equal the same results as those who put in maximum efforts? Would it be fair for any athlete to assume they are so talented that they need not attend necessary training? Do sports teams not practice multiple times a week? Do they not have games requiring weekly, if not twice weekly games? Do sports or other art forms not require mandatory practices so that the wielder of said sport or craft improves or continues to meet the standards out of respect for who they stand next to on their team? I hope that other readers of your reviews are also able to distinguish this pompous statement made. Again, this studio provides classes nightly for the students that WANT and NEED to be there. It is not forced. Nor are there any expectations for a student to train in all genres of dance provided if their interests only lie in one. I am sure in this writers moment of frustration, they chose to ignore the feelings of those members of the studio that call this their “home away from home.” It is apparent they felt no concern for the hurt this may cause supporters of the studio once it was read. Although the stones you threw may not have originally been intended to reach myself or my child, they did. This studio means the world to my child, and to myself. We support them 100%. We hope all who reads this comes and checks out all that is offered by the amazingly caring and talented teachers of Taylor Dance and Ballet Americana❤️"

"Only join this school if you are a fan of Dance Moms, because it has all the drama of it. The problem is that at Taylor Dance it's hidden behind the plastic smiles of its owners. They do not care about your child. They are only there to make money. They discourage the top dancers from academic schoolwork. They have classes late on Friday evening and Saturdays. If they can get your child to so many classes that they have no time for homework or downtime, they will. If you're looking for a fresh new cult to join, you've come to the right place. When they get a bad review online, they send out emails to the parents asking them to rush and post good reviews to counter-act it. These good reviews are not real. They are from parents trying to please the owners to secure a better standing for their child. They are very unprofessional - their classes do not start, or end, on time. No one will complain for fear if they were to say anything perceived as bad the teachers will take it out on their child."

"My review of Taylor Dance: My daughters have been there since they were 3 years old.   The are now teens and dance there 6 days/week.   They look forward to going every single day, often missing other activities for dance.   It's like their second home.   They get amazing training and instruction at Taylor Dance.   I honestly don't think there is anywhere in the downriver area or within at least 40 miles to get the level of ballet training that Taylor Dance provides.  And on top of that, it's at least 50 to 70% cheaper than other dance studios that provide this level of training, assuming you're willing to travel that far to find it.   Honestly - check it out for yourself.   The more classes the kids take, the cheaper each class becomes due to their pricing structure. A few other thoughts: I never have worried about my daughters' safety at Taylor Dance. Their Nutcracker production is AMAZING!!!!  You must go see it at least once. Their recitals are also very professional -- with age appropriate costumes. While no studio is perfect, the bad reviews on the web are very misleading.  Ask yourself why the poster doesn't post their actual name.  Sometimes you can't please everyone and a couple of nameless disgruntled customers shouldn't be able to slam a business that provides so many kids with learning the joy of dance.  If you’re in the downriver area, and looking for a dance studio, give Taylor Dance a look. Stop in and talk to the staff. As with anything else, take online reviews with a grain of salt. Come see a recital. Come see the Nutcracker, and ask yourself where else you can find something like that."

"Taylor Dance is the best! I went here as a child and I love that my daughter gets to experience the love of dance here as well. The teachers are so talented and kind. They are incredibly patient and truly care about their students. I love the low pressure environment, but know that my kiddo is still being challenged and pushed to grow her skills. Plus, the choreography and costumes are always amazing!"

"I can’t put into words how grateful I am for this place. I’ve been student here for 12 years now and can confidently say their training is one of the best downriver has to offer. With their guidance I have been able to receive so many opportunities such as acceptance into well-known summer ballet intensives and earning scholarships from numerous dance competitions. On top of this they treat each and every one of us as if we were their children. I personally have learned so much that I will carry both throughout the rest of my dance “career” and the outside world, and I owe it all to the amazing faculty. The instructors put effort into every student whether they want to pursue a career or not, leaving a lasting impact on every child that comes through the program. From affordable prices, to quality education, Taylor Dance program is truly an amazing place for dancers of all ages."
