"I am posting on behalf of my husband who has had 3 sleep studies here within the last month or so. He was told at his first appointment that due to our insurance (BCBS) he had to have 2 at home studies and then if those did not work, one at the office. I very much wish that I had checked this ahead of time and I may have been able to save us a lot of money. When my husband came home and notified me he paid our bill with the office (prior to it hitting our insurance) I was genuinely concerned there was a mistake and called our insurance. I'm not a huge fan of paying for services before the insurance has determined the final cost, and no this was not our co-pay, but it seems to be their policy which I have to respect. Unfortunately, to my surprise, when I was checking with our insurance provider about the required 2 at-home sleep studies, they notified me that was not their requirement so it must be the offices. In fact, these at-home tests actually cost more and are less covered by insurance than the one at their office. We have excellent BCBS insurance and met our deductible in the midst of this testing and we will have paid well over $800 for all services with $474 going towards the two sleep tests our insurance deemed not necessary. I cannot speculate to whether or not the facility lied or simply did not have our accurate insurance information. Either way, it was not a great experience and the error cost a lot of time and money. Update after reading response: The information listed in their response is inaccurate. We had already met our deductible. I have genuinely tried to give this practice the benefit of the doubt. I read many reviews similar to my own experience but assumed the Beaumont affiliation and good reviews would balance this out. Ultimately, my husband was not diagnosed with anything. 3 inconclusive sleep tests, exhaustion upon waking up, severe insomnia, severe constant tinnitus, well over $800, and the doctor dismissed my husband and told him to seek a psychiatrist (who referred him here in the first place). I believe doctors do what they do for the good of the patients well-being but it is hard to see this as anything other than a money-grab."
