"I have had good experiences at this hospital. And from the complaints, I can see how amazing this hospital and its staff really are. When there's no beds available on the floors, they keep patients in the ER, even for days. When there's no beds or space left in the emergency room, they treat patients in the waiting room. They don't turn them away at the door or make them wait for an ER bed before treating them. I have to say that's amazing! As far as the HIPAA laws and confidentiality, there is no expectation of absolute confidentiality in an ER setting. The majority of time in the ER, I have just had a curtain between me and everyone in earshot of my conversation. I hear their conversations and they hear mine. There is absolutely no difference in confidentiality between the waiting room or being in the ER bed behind a curtain. Thank you ER staff for doing all you do. I only have to take care me or my family member for one issue. You take care of all of us at the same time, day in and day out. Please know that you are appreciated!"
"I am happy with the physician I use, Dr. B, but some of their staff needs some work. I've tried to call to request a refill numerous times and end up leaving voicemails because the MA doesn't return calls. Also, whenever calling there's always a hold for usually over 15 minutes and there's no time for you to say yes or no on whether you can hold or not. It shouldn't be this difficult to get ahold of your physician."
"On June 9th I had a stroke well EMS showed up at my house. They hooked me up to their equipment. The guy that tried to put a IV in my arm missed in result a bruise for almost a month. He was also the driver my ex wife rode along and had to give this kid directions to the hospital being a ambulance driver shouldn’t you know where the hospital is? I wanted to go to Main Campus of Henry Ford!! Nope took me to Mount Clemens General (McLaren Macomb). So happy they took me there!! Sarcasm if you couldn’t tell? I do have to say 2-3 nurses were fantastic everyone else I should have went to Tim Hortons. I probably would’ve been better taken care of. I was in the hallway from when I arrived till I left. My whole family was there they let them come see me one at a time. Which was cool. But in the hallway. Everything I experienced or treated for was in the hallway. When I finally fell asleep we were lined up along the wall about 10 feet away a “ patient” a guy that was tweaking or something He was so annoying the nurse stopped listening to him. I think he was a frequent flyer. At the head rest some older gentleman very confused. I wake up my brother is there. Captain annoying is gone old guy not there. But I have a new guy a at the head rest. My brother that has been there since I don’t know when tells me this guy thats a foot or two away tested positive for Covid. Mind you I just had a stroke and in 2017 I had a heart attack. I don’t believe in getting the shot. So the neurologist seen me in the hallway tells me what I need to do and what test he wants before I leave. So I needed a echocardiogram that showed my EF was half of what it was before I left the hospital in 2017. Getting ready to leave my hallway bed The doctor ordered more blood work. I have my thoughts but I won’t!! I leave go home. I call the hospital to get any records for my primary and for Henry Ford because I will never go back there. I asked billing to send me a copy of my bill I have insurance but I wanted to see. I was never offered anything to eat just water. I get the bill from the hospital and Ems was on there as well. EMS charged my insurance for running a IV and the ride there. Next time I will drive myself or call Uber or something. Now the hospital bill charged my insurance for a semi private room with a bed. The hallway at McLaren is a semi private room. Thank god I had a bed. If I was in one of those plastic chairs the whole time. I think I might’ve lost it. I don’t recommend this place or a ingrown toenail to have a major brain surgery. I’ve never liked this place. I heard that they were getting better and if that’s getting better, I would hate to see what they were like when they were at their worst point next time if I have to go there, I’m gonna have them drop me off at prom, care or somewhere I would never go back there, they treated me piss poorly, except two nurses and like I said, I’ll never go back. Very bad experience there and I’ll never have another one. If I have to be in an ambulance and they won’t take me to Henry Ford I will ask them to stop the ambulance and I’ll figure out a way to get down there and the way I was treated ambulance I mean it was so bad that, I had to refuse an IV something that I needed but yeah if I give them zero stars, I would know some people have faith in them but I highly highly recommend going to a different hospital"
"I was VERY impressed with McLaren Macomb and specifially her surgeon, Dr. Mohan. They listened to my concerns about my diabetic wife's blood sugars during and after her procedure, and he explained everything that he did. He even showed me a before and after picture and video of her arteries. My wife was up and walking around within a couple of hours, and even enjoyed the "hospital food"! Her nurses were also incredible. We probably interacted with 6-8 nurses, and every single one was kind and compassionate."
"There seemed to be little-to-no communication between members of my care team. Information was often misconstrued and required reiteration. I was in pain the whole time I was there and was rarely given the allowed, prescribed medication on time. This made my stay extremely uncomfortable to the point I felt tortured. I was also told they were specifically monitoring my WBC and RBC counts (the former was high and latter low) and they still discharged me despite my readings still being high/low and my hemoglobin trending down. It felt like they wanted to kick me out ASAP because I have medicaid? There were blood spots on the cloth on the counter the ER nurse put my IV in on. It was not my blood. That IV later blew and medication and saline leaked into my arm which is still sore (days later) and I'm continuing to monitor for infection. My "consultation" with a specialist was maybe two sentences with no detailed follow-up or more information with the specialist. The other people on my care team just assumed the specialist told me everything I needed to know. They don't have enough nurses working anywhere and there's no clear understanding of procedures between staff. The ER doctor prescribed me a medication that the ER nurse later told me they could not administer (after the doctor left of course). I figured it would be administered once I was admitted but apparently no doctors are able to provide this medication to patients? But the ER doctor was still able to order it? I should have left after sitting in the ER room for five hours still in tremendous pain. Instead I allowed myself to be admitted and let the torture continue. Do not go to this hospital unless you absolutely have too. There were decent/caring providers scattered throughout my team, but overall, the care was very poor, very rushed, very low quality. The food is awful."
