Traverse Bay Café

"Our family visited the Traverse Bay Café for a Sunday morning breakfast, and it was all around great. Great food, Great service, Great atmosphere all topped off with ‘90s grunge playing in the background which earns the place an extra star in my book! Our server was exceptional, engaging with everyone at our table and apologetic for what could be a long wait for breakfast because they were short staffed. The cook did a great job and the setting made us indifferent about the wait, which was not that long. The food: I had homemade corn beef hash and Sunnyside up eggs with a side of bacon and their signature baked fresh Cuban bread. In addition to the food, they have a nice selection of coffee drinks including a variety of flavors, my daughter had a toasted marshmallow latte. Every table was full by the time we left, and I can understand the popularity, so sit back, relax enjoy your coffee and soak in the experience while you wait for a table and hearty breakfast."

"I love this place! My boyfriend and I have gone twice now on our annual trips to Traverse City. Despite being understaffed, the service is amazing and the food is too. It is totally worth the (really only slightly longer than normal) wait."

"What a fun surprise! We’d seen this little place many times but never stopped in. We went on a Saturday around 1:00. It wasn’t busy (but there was a snowstorm going on outside…). There were three of us, including my 3 year old grandson. No one looked horrified when we brought him in so definitely family friendly. Great and attentive waitress. The food was delicious. I had the Cuban sandwich and gobbled the whole thing down. Everything was served with fresh cut fries that were perfectly seasoned. My grandson had the cinnamon roll (don’t judge, he was quiet!). My daughter, Cuban chicken sandwich. Everything was excellent and priced right. Definitely coming back for some great looking breakfast choices. UPDATE: we went back for breakfast and were not disappointed. Three of us had the frittatas (vegetarian, Italian, and sausage gravy). Crispy hash browns. Delicious. Although the table favorite was the sausage gravy. We got a couple of the cinnamon buns. They were slightly over baked so the crust was a bit tough. But the insides were great. As before, the coffee was noticeably good. Yes, we will definitely be back! Oh, I should note that our waitress was wonderful. Cheerful and attentive."

"As soon as I walked in you immediately get the Michigan nice attitude. Friendly greeting as you walk in. Waitress was so friendly. Offered coffee refills without asking. Ordered monkey bread French toast which is a specialty with local syrup with sausage and the food was set up like a smiley face on the plate. Prices were so reasonable. Just over $20 for two people. Also a counter space with homemade bred for sale. And is conveniently located across from the Bayshore resort. Such a down home Cafe atmosphere. Would definitely make this a to-go stop when ever I come to Traverse City."

"What a great local spot. We came for breakfast on a Sunday morning and they were hopping. Very cute interior and friendly staff. The interior is a bit dated/worn but clean, so it feels like that comfy sweater you like to wrap up in and just chill. Lots of art on the wall looks like local scenes at beaches and around the bay. I had the Protein Breakfast (eggs and bacon) and it was very good. The sausage was excellent. They also allowed me to get a single pancake (normally 3) and it was great! Light and fluffy, great flavor. Maybe the best pancake I've had in a very long time. Oh, and the prices are incredible, such a great value. Normally, we come up in August but made a short trip this weekend. So glad we found this place so we can come back again this summer."
