"PROCEED WITH CAUTION!!! 917 SMITH INC is a scammer. On 11/6/2023 We accepted a load from Jordan with 917 Smith Inc. The load was not ready when the driver arrived. Driver had to wait 2 hours for the shipper to get the machine out of the bushes. We took the load as running operating machine. It was a dead machine and it took the remainder of the afternoon to get loaded. Driver was instructed to stay in touch over the course of the trip. 917 Smith gave the receiver the drivers phone number and the receiver contacted the driver. The driver was under the impression he was communicating with 917 Smith Inc and stayed in touch as requested until delivery. After delivery was made we received a phone call from Jordan at 917 Smith. he was irate and stated that they were not going to pay for the load because the driver did not communicate with him. He explained that they might not get paid because our driver unloaded the machine with out consulting him first. The driver was communicating with the receiver the entire time he was confused as to who he was supposed to be communicating with because the broker gave his number to the receiver and the guy contacted him. I asked Jordan if they had received payment in full and he said yes they had been paid. He then proceeded to send an updated rate agreement over minus $300. Broker was paid in full carrier was offered short pay. This is a TERRIBLE BROKER with a focus on misleading and scamming carriers with intention to do so from the get go."
