About the Business

Taggarts Ice Cream

Taggarts Ice Cream is a beloved Canton institution located at 1401 Fulton Road Northwest in Canton, Ohio, United States. This charming food store offers a variety of delicious treats, including coneys, soups, burgers, olive nut sandwiches, and Tuna melts. However, the real star of the show is their renowned vanilla ice cream - considered the best in town. Customers also rave about the Buckeye Sundae and Chocolate Covered Cherry Sundae, as well as the popular Unicorn Sundae for kids.

The ambiance at Taggarts Ice Cream is reminiscent of a classic ice cream parlor from the twenties, with wrought-iron chairs, high-backed booths, and vintage wood and tile floors. Their ice cream is made with just four classic ingredients: ice cream, milk, flavoring, and pure powdered malt.

Conveniently located in downtown Canton, Taggarts Ice Cream is just minutes away from popular attractions such as the Pro Football Hall of Fame, the William McKinley Presidential Library & Museum, and the National First Ladies’ Library. Visitors can also enjoy a trip on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad while in the area. Don't miss out on a visit to this iconic ice cream shop for a taste of nostalgia and delicious treats.

"Ice cream was quite tasty. The waffle sundae was huge definitely a two person dessert. Highly recommend if you are in the area"

"The food was wonderful! Everything was in large portions, so you're left full with much to take home. I loved the vegetable soup, along with the sloppy jos and drinks. The ice cream itself could make up a whole other restaurant. Their flavors range from strawberry shortcake, to chocolate lava cake to circus. I seem to find something new each time. The atmosphere is very homey and you can tell they have been in business for a long time. It is such a great place for a family outing."

"Famous for their Bittner Sundae and their Kitchen Sink. Old fashioned ice cream shop with homemade ice cream, sandwiches, appetizers, soups, and monthly specialty sundaes or ice cream. Seating is limited. Booths can be a tight squeeze for larger people and there are only a few tables with chairs. Very busy in the summer and during Hall of Fame week. Street parking only and it can be difficult to find closer parking spots."

"Where to start? This place is a gem! Food is good and desserts are spectacular. Prices? Impossible to beat. This diner that's been around since 1926 is a throwback to simpler times. It was a highlight of our trip."

"Came for the first time since I was a little kid. This is an awesome spot for old fashioned ice cream. They also serve food which I can't really chime in on. We got pretzel bites which were ok. BUT the ice cream is made on site as well as the whipped cream. It is old school and delicious! They have a bittner which is from the 30s and is very yummy. Definitely worth a visit for a blast to the past :)"
