"Pro: in a centralized location and walking distance from oarks, restaurants, and venues. Affordable pricepoint for the area and includes wifi. Very quiet and safe Con: very slow to respond or no response at all from landlord also the building needs an upgrade and leaks in hallway when I first moved in. The layout is not sectional couch friendly but it's possible to make it work. Alot of work needs to be done to get apartment up to date."

"I highly recommend the Uptown Shaker apartments. I have lived here for 6 months and I absolutely love it. The apartments are large and spacious. There is more than enough closet space. The neighbors are so quiet, you forget you live in a building. The garage space is a luxury to have especially in the winter. I love the Van Aken district area. Very convenient to shopping. Also, easy to stay active in this area. Chas Allen"

"After living there for 2 years I can provide some feedback. The pros include location and a small green zone, with two hills that are awesome during wintertime. Nothing exceptional related to the building itself. Now in regards to renting an apartment and the building... The apartment is ok, but be careful as not all come equipped with a microwave. It was a surprise for us. Things you will get include: Free locker Free parking spot (this might no longer be the case, as the landlord last mentioned we will soon be paying for it and there is no other free alternative other than parking on the street) Free wifi (the quality itself is terrible, if you need reliable Internet or work from home, you will need to pay for your own) Building equipped with security cameras, but again, don’t really rely on it. My bike was stolen right from the garage and neither the owner nor security cams helped me with the situation (frankly, manager/owner/whoever runs this building was not very interested to help with anything). A garage door often was broken and as a result, the garage stayed open for weeks. Then there is the manager, which is another story entirely. He is interested only in money and is extremely difficult to deal with. You definitely need to ensure you take full and detailed pictures of the housing conditions when moving in, as he took the entirety of our security deposit when there was no/extremely minimal damage. In one example, he took ~$600 from the deposit to completely replace a countertop due to a minor water stain. We were charged additional money for paint cracks/chips in the ceilings and walls, all of which were there before we moved in. This is partly my fault for not documenting everything thoroughly, but don't want anyone else to make the same mistake. Overall, the rent itself is not very high, but considering the amount of headaches and stress you will be going through with the landlord, it might not be worth it in the long run (at least, in retrospect I would not have made the same decision)."

"I love the spacious rooms and the apartment size washer and dryer. It has a very nice recreation/exercise room with up-to-date equipment. The management and the maintenance is superb. I put in a maintenance request and get a reply usually before 24 hours, and they will do whatever possible to resolve the issue. And the manager does whatever she can to make sure that the place is ran smoothly and that we are kept safe. The apartment is in the middle of shopping and restaurants in either direction. The only con that I have is that there is not enough visitor parking spaces but other than that I am satisfied."

"We have been at Uptown Shaker for almost a year now, and it has been a great experience! The apartments are spacious and clean, and maintenance is always available to attend to any issues that come up. In unit washer/dryer has been great. We have been so grateful for the garage parking, especially for cold or snowy days. Love being so close to the Van Aken district and so many other options nearby. Great option!"
