L & E Stone and Cabinets

"Overall, I like the countertops, but I would try another company next time. The design process was a little difficult. I told them 3 times that they had the bar incorrect and that the edges would be wrong before they fixed it. The scheduled date that they told me was wrong, but thankfully I caught it. However, I would be ok with that if the install went better. There was very little communication with me. They cut a corner of the countertop off to make it fit around a door frame. Now, I can never replace that door frame because I'd have a notch in the countertop for no reason. The worst part was the countertops on the 9" cabinets for either side of the stove. I didn't notice it right away, but the countertops were VERY crooked (see the pictures). Fortunately, they are ok now, but they had to return, I had to line them up myself, it threw my schedule off, and the install guy kept saying that it was because of me that he had to install them crooked. Even when he returned, he thought it was just because a countertop was loose. Then, when I showed him it, he just chuckled and blamed me with an excuse that made no sense. The cabinets were spaced perfectly, but he just installed it wrong. I've never seen anyone claim that the countertops needed to be angled away like you see in the second picture, and that was on both sides, so in opposite directions. Very confusing. It would never have fit a stove, and I was 10 feet away the entire time. He didn't say a word about any issues during the measurements or the install. I'm happy with the quality of the countertop. However, I won't recommend L&E to anyone I know. It's just too much work to work with them. Their install crew worked too quickly and made mistakes. Taking more time to do quality work and having better communication would fix 90% of the problems."
