"With bug spray on it is a great trail. The salamander route is surrounded by stinging nettle on both sides of the trail. Had to turn around because we had shorts on."

"Nice, quiet place to walk. Very buggy in the summer. Expect fallen trees and overgrown sections of the trail. Longer trail goes along the Kraut Creek, which has some pleasant places to stop and meditate."

"If you like a little danger on your walk, try this path. One of the paths crosses a stream that's a little wide to jump across, so you have to cross on a log. If you're unsteady on your feet as I am, it's best just to wear your sandals and slog through it (but, beware, because depending on your direction, you can slip afterward). And my elderly Chihuahua had to be carried over a couple streams. One of the walks (the one with the streams) is about 2+ miles by my pedometer and another trail is about 1.5. But if you're concerned about getting wet, take the paths with the woodpecker signs. The paths have been maintained well and are accessible even in the winter. This park is not used frequently so it's a great place to bring your dog, but beware of branches that can snag their leash or collar. Even if you've got a dog that stays close to you, it may not be safe for them to stray from the path for that reason. In the summer, the mosquitoes are horrendous and will swarm you. No bathrooms or trash cans so pack everything out (including your dog poop, people [you know who you are])."

"There are 2 trails that are marked. The bird markers cut next to the wetland. If you stay on the trail with the salamander markers you will go around the wetland. As I didn't have a map on me while on the trail I didn't take the full loop. Using the cut across my hike was less than a mile. There were no hills so it was an easy hike. There were lots of mosquitoes in the woods. They were a mild nuisance as I used some natural repellant (essential oils). Some still braved landing on me."

"03/04/18 Pretty muddy and flooded in some areas of the trails due to recent rains and time of year. Overall, nice scenic trails. Seen two woodpeckers, a cardinal and other small birds. Bring out the kids and dogs for a nice walk. Great for Darke county."
