About the Business

Summit County Childrens Services

Summit County Children Services, located at 264 South Arlington Street in Akron, Ohio, is dedicated to protecting children from abuse and neglect. For over a century, SCCS has been working to improve the lives of vulnerable children and their families by prioritizing child safety, permanency, and overall well-being.

Every day, more children are referred to SCCS due to concerns of abuse and neglect. With the support of dedicated staff, social workers, foster families, volunteers, and donors, SCCS strives to provide essential child protection services that help children thrive in safe environments.

Safety is the top priority at SCCS, as no child should have to endure abuse or neglect. The institution follows up on reports of child abuse and neglect, assesses the safety of children in their homes, and provides temporary placement with qualified foster families. SCCS also assists in placing children with family or close friends and helps with the legal transition to a permanent home for children in their custody.

Community involvement is crucial at SCCS, and they coordinate donor and volunteer activities, as well as provide child welfare awareness programs and educational initiatives. With nearly 800 children in their custody, SCCS relies on the support of the community to foster or adopt children in need.

If you are interested in supporting the mission of Summit County Children Services, learn more about how you can get involved and make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

"I called them by accident and the lady that answered was in immediate attack mode. Yelling in the phone and aggressively talking to me. I believe they don't take their job seriously. Something needs to be changed within the their system."

"Trying to Report abuse or neglect to these is very hard. The women who answer try to pick fights and are Rude and very antagonistic. They ask questions when you answer them they say you didn't Its like The want you to self incriminate and have no respect for your Privacy. If you have to call they're hotline Remember these women think they are police and they can talk to you anyway they want from the minute they answer They press and press total pressure. Call the Police don't Call the hotline Iet the police deal with the pressure and there Rude authoritarian behavior"

"For those out their. By Ohio law you can request a warrant. If you have nothing to hind. Yes you're have cops and a case worker showing up with a warrant. You're have to go to court but they have prove you're a bad parent. They like breaking up families, I can tell if you're driving an Audi SUV staring at me like pray while waiting on a lawyer!! These people wouldn't know what a good parent is if it happened in front of them"

"Edit of an older review: Do not trust these people. They can and will lie straight to your face. If you haven't signed anything or had a court judgment, you absolutely DO NOT HAVE TO talk to or let these people in your home. Their case workers are trained liars and WILL COMMIT FORGERY if they are not satisfied with what you DID agree to sign or initial, i.e. if it's not enough to get the private, privileged information they want. IF you sign or initial ANYTHING at all, be absolutely sure to TAKE A PICTURE of the document or better yet, film it. As a matter of fact, film everything. Being open and honest with these people WILL NOT help you. They will use anything and everything you say against you, taking your words out of context, bringing up things that happened years and years ago, etc. etc. while they smile at you and act sympathetic. Later on, I was told (by another case worker) that the original case worker that forged my initials all over a medical release document (crime anybody?), "left the agency to explore another opportunity". This was after the integrity of that document had been called into question by my lawyer in a preliminary adjudicatory hearing. She verbally denied any knowledge. Her inflection while speaking and the face she made on camera said otherwise. Soon after she was gone and soon after that the case was dropped. I'm sure they wanted this whole snafu to just go away before they ended up with an ex-employee perjuring herself (again) in actual court. I couldn't even grieve the death of my wife because these people assaulted my family less than a month after she died. My kids were horrified that they were going to try to take them away from their father right after they'd lost their mother. My youngest son, who was only 5 at the time, still suffers from separation anxiety because of these monsters. They do not care what traumatizing effect any of their involvement has on your children. They are not out there protecting kids that are actually abused and neglected because they are wasting time and resources harassing solid families that take impeccable care of their children. Many of their employees are sick people looking to intrude and invade good families and their homes because of their need to feel some kind of "power". They go sniffing around your home looking at things, picking things up, etc. Creepy and gross, pathetic and disgusting. Do your DUE DILIGENCE. If you can, get a lawyer. If you cant, be smart. Protect yourself, protect your children, protect your family, protect your home. I wouldn't leave my kids with these creeps for a second. This agency is absolutely disgraceful. Next time they're asking for more of your money via a levy on the ballot, vote NO. I wouldn't give this bloated, overreaching bureaucratic nightmare the lint from my pocket."

"Never do what they say. Lie right to your face. The longer they keep them from family the more money they get from the state. They're not there to help the kids or families, just for money. They get no stars with me but can't post this without one."
