17 River Grille

"DELICIOUS food and an excellent value, especially given the magnificent view! I had a butternut squash salad ($12); Lake Erie walleye with beurre Blanc, roasted small potatoes, and grilled Brussels sprouts ($24); and shared an appetizer of the calamari fritti ($15). One of our party ordered a Caesar salad with crispy chicken, and the chicken was crispy but not thickly breaded and not in the last greasy, which was greatly appreciated. Two of our companions ordered the smoked salmon, eggs, and whole-grain artisan toast platter off the brunch menu, and it was HUGE! They must have made it with 4 eggs and a half-pound of smoked salmon! Such generous, flavorful portions. Still water is $8 a bottle, but you can opt for sparkling or tap also (not from the Falls, ha ha). Drinks were just the perfect strength. Everything was piping hot, perfectly cooked, and well seasoned. Service was top-notch and the food came out impressively quickly! The only downside is that the food was so scrumptious that we ate every bite and then had no room for dessert, which also looked amazing. You will not walk away hungry! We also made reservations in advance, which was an excellent decision, as it was very busy on a Saturday at noon, given that the location is a PRIME spot to view the lower falls and the decks are cantilevered almost over the Chagrin River. Atmospheric and with a bistro feel without the huge bill. Would definitely recommend; I'm looking forward to coming back here again!"

"Stopped by for lunch late on a weekday. Host gave us a wonderful table with an incredible view. Our server Josh, was very attentive and never too far away. Deviled eggs, and french onion soups to start. Both were very good. Salmon entree was very good, didn't care for the slaw at all. Not traditional by any stretch. Also tried the lunch steak. After a recook, it came out perfectly the second time. Too full for dessert. Recommend for sure. Overall, very good experience."

"Food was really good. Highly recommend the sweet potatoes with hot honey as a side! And the asparagus was perfectly cooked, just the right amount of crunchy! No one likes a mushy vegetable, right?! Just a little disappointing on the service. We had reservations for a specific time and had to go ‘re-check in’ with the front area after our reservation time passing by. But we ended up at a wonderful table with a view of the falls, so the extra wait was worth it."

"Gorgeous place tucked right in the city. Amazing view of the waterfall. We got the best place in the house, literally walked right in and had the whole warmed balcony to ourselves. We had awesome burgers and fries for brunch that was yummy. Our server was great... I will definitely be back."

"My boyfriend surprised me with a date out of town and he chose to take me here. Our sever Erica was wonderful. Bubbly, friendly, and helped with our decision on ordering. Our table was right at the window next to the waterfall so it was just a lovely view while we dined. Our food an drinks were top notch. I had the lemon parm chicken and it did not disappoint. He had the rainbow trout and was smiling from ear to ear upon his fist bite. The manager Steven visited our table and was such a delight to talk to. This place was top tier for restaurants we've visited lately. I wish I could give more stars. We enjoyed our visit in every way possible."
