"I work for a pharmacy and attempting to get refills for group home patients is impossible. Called and was told that the power was out due to the storm the previous day and we just needed to be patient. Okay fine. No problem. We have been requesting it for almost 3 weeks at this point, but if it only needed another few hours, fine. No problem. About 3 business days later, call back to follow up, as we had not received anything for the patient. She said to me "I never expected the day when my life would be dictated by pharmacies and caregivers." I told her I wasn't sure what she meant and she said that we were all very pushy. I told her that I spoke with her on the phone a few days previously and she said they hadn't sent it due to the store and I thought we were being quite patient as we had been requesting it for 3 weeks. She hung up on me. It wasn't until after contacting the patient's cargiver, I found out that I was speaking with THE DOCTOR HERSELF! Exceptionally rude and clearly does not care about her patients."

"I used to use this doctor before college: she never sent prescriptions over even after being called multiple times and she's continuing this behavior with other patients that I know personally with meds that were given as emergencies. I went for a COVID test in Jan of 2021 and several times she stated that "masks don't work" and "COVID isn't that bad" while giving me the test - which is highly unprofessional of a medical professional to do especially when millions of people had died from covid at that time. Don't go here."

"Daughter waited for several hours to have her child discharged. She told me she would get there when she gets there. Very rude. Would never go to for care."

"I worked for Dr. Schermerhorn for 8 months. I only stayed there that long to help her out. Missed out on thousands of dollars because she would never pay me. Wanted me to handle urine without any gloves with open Dixie cups. I wasn’t aloud to use paper towels to dry my hands she provided wash clothes from home to dry my hands, and they wouldn’t get washed unless I took them home to wash them. She has food in the fridge with her vaccines! Since working there our power went out 2-3 times because she didn’t pay her bills. I sat there the coldest day of the winter without heat and she still let patients in there. Even once without any electricity at all, told me to use my flashlight on my phone to take care of the patients. Not to mention on all the mean and cruel things she says about all of her patients. She is very selfish, mean, and deceiving. Don’t get me started on how FILTHY & UNORGANIZED the place is!! It’s a disaster. I got sick of being told to lie about why she wouldn’t send in patient’s medication and why she wouldn’t do the paper work & why she didn’t do the referrals. She looses everything and can’t keep track of anything. It took a toll on my mental health dealing with it everyday."

"This doctor dosent even deserve a 1 star rating, but thats how I was able to write this review at all! My experience with Dr. Schermerhorn was not as a patient, but as her Medical Assistant. I worked with her for 4 weeks from Jan 15 2021-Feb 12 2021. I NEVER filled out any new hire paperwork, even though I asked about it numerous times. Therefore, she didnt have my tax papers or know how I wanted to file for taxes to be able to pay me. She had no issue telling me flat out that hiring me was a mistake, and that she worked better when I wasn't there. She barked at me with every question I had (sometimes with patients in ear shot of hearing her), and I also wasn't properly trained in her office because the only other MA there goes to school for Phelbotomy, and wasn't there when I was to actually train me, and the doctor refused to train me because 'she is a doctor not an MA and she has work to do of her own'. My schedule I was told was Mon-Wed 8:30a-5pm, but there was only 4 days that I stayed past 1 because she usually sent me home at lunch so she could do her work. And despite giving her my bank account information, she still has yet to give me my first paycheck, after 4 weeks. And the BBB can't help me with my situation either. I do not recommend her as a doctor or as an employer. Oh, by the way, she also insisted that I NOT wear gloves while doing a urine test because she claims she doesn't have enough money to be able to keep buying gloves like that, even though OSHA REQUIRES health professionals to wear gloves when handling bodily fluids. Writing this review is all I can do to guide and warn people against seeing her as a doctor or going to her seeking employment. Not worth it in the least bit! There is so much more that happened, but I feel this is enough to deter people away from seeing her."
