S. Derrick Eddy, MD

S. Derrick Eddy, MD is a sports medicine physician located at 6076 Whipple Avenue Northwest in North Canton, Ohio. Dr. Eddy has been practicing since 2006 and joined Akron Children’s Sports Medicine Center in 2016. He is a graduate of West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his residency in pediatrics there. Dr. Eddy also completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Akron Children’s.

Dr. Eddy specializes in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal problems, pain, injuries, and provides home exercise programs, ultrasound-guided injections, platelet-rich plasma injections, and simple fracture care for adolescents and teens. He has a special interest in working with throwers, weightlifters, runners, and biomechanics. Dr. Eddy is board certified in sports medicine and pediatrics and serves as the team physician at The University of Akron.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Eddy is a clinical assistant professor at Northeast Ohio Medical University and Ohio University. He also serves as the medical director for the athletic training program at Kent State University. Dr. Eddy was the recipient of the Akron Children’s Sports Medicine Teaching Award in 2020.
