"I was very frustrated by my initial interaction with the Cardiology Office itself. I was scheduled to have a surgery performed and the insurance denied it. There was little to no communication on the office's part regarding what to do next. I felt like a sitting duck. I called in and cancelled, stated why, and they said they would pass the info on. After a few weeks, they finally got back to me, but by then I had already seen my cardiologist at Akron Children's and had decided to go another route for treatment. I was called by my surgeon to find out more information and check in on me when he found out I had cancelled the rescheduled appointment. He was very kind about my choice to go with a different treatment route and told me to feel free to call his office in the future if I ever needed anything. I will chalk this experience up as being caught up in red tape by the insurance company and not so much the fault of the Cardiology Office; however, better communication on the Cardiology Office would have been appreciated. I felt like I was being kept in the dark on a lot of things without any clear lines of communications to ask questions regarding my major surgery, versus the communication I had available over a superficial surgery at a different hospital."
