About the Business
Portage Learning Centers, located at 145 North Chestnut Street in Ravenna, Ohio, is a school that offers the Head Start program for income-eligible children ages three to five years old. With four centers in Kent, Ravenna, Streetsboro, and Atwater, Portage Learning Centers also provides Early Head Start, a no-cost early education program for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women.
In the Early Head Start program, 84 children and pregnant women receive comprehensive services to promote their school readiness, including health, nutrition, social services, education, and cognitive development. Families receiving SNAP benefits, as well as homeless and foster children, are automatically eligible for these services.
To enroll in Head Start or Early Head Start, families must provide documentation of income for the past twelve months, as well as proof of age for child applicants. Pregnant women do not need to provide proof of age or pregnancy. Applications are always accepted, and appointments can be scheduled by calling the main office at (330) 297-7795.
