"I had a terrible experience sending my kid to this school district. I was staying in the US for a couple of years due to my work. My husband was living overseas and my son was staying with me and had to start kindergarten. I had enrolled him at the Bryden Elementary School. One could not imagine what my son (who was 6 years old at the time) had to go through in this school. The principal and the other staff arranged a meeting with me one day and forced me to see a psychologist for my son since his father does not stay with him so there might be some emotional turnaround on his part and they gave me a list of psychologists in the area, I complied with it lest my son suffer in the school, only at the cost of a hefty amount of money I had to pay to the psychologist. My son was/is perfectly fine and no one ever noticed any emotional awkwardness in him nor did the psychologist came with any issue other than the Bryden staff. Now I wonder does this school have any sort of commissioning base with the service providers. Then, another bad experience I had, was with a teacher who teaches "advanced classes" for a selected few from every class in Bryden. Apparently, she is a veteran from the school. This program works in such a way that 5-6 kids (right from the kindergarten) from every class selected by that teacher are sent to the advanced class to be instructed by her. This leaves the other 20 kids in the class mostly on their own or with a minimum instruction from the class teacher. My son was good in Math and Reading (as I was teaching him at home) but was not selected in that class! Well, what bothers me is how you can filter kindergarteners based on their intelligence, their priming with an instructional setup has just started. Even the most advanced child psychology says that in the pre-teen years every child has a different rate of physical and mental development and the real test for intelligence comes at around 11-12 years when they are just going to enter the middle school, no matter how well a child does during the early years. May be this school’s staff and teachers need to do a refresher course in child development. I had a terrible experience with this school; I wasted a lot of my time, energy, and money for something that was totally wrong and imposed on my son. The school’s mediocrity is masked by huge propaganda of Ohio’s no. 3 school and blue ribbon school and what not which is simply false, underneath it is any other ordinary public school in the US. Makes me think how easy it is to achieve these statuses if this school has one."
