"When they put my ham straight on a papered aluminum tray I was speechless! Everything else came I a bowl or cup. When I asked about a plate, they gave me a cardboard hotdogs boat for it. If this was someone's idea to be unique, you missed. I'm not a dog and since you have containers for everything else, you might want to add plates. I see a lot of room for improvement for Hickory River. You have decent food and with your prices, I think you could add plates. It would also be nice to theme the inside of this establishment so as to compliment your menu. Just my opinion."

"This restaurant is one where you order before you sit down. I had the chili with cornbread and added a side salad. My husband had the senior BBQ sandwich (pulled pork) and chose the chili as his side. We also had an apple cobbler. We both felt the chili could have more meat and beans and be a bit thicker. The flavour was good. The cobbler was okay. The staff were great, especially the person who kept clearing the tables."

"The food was really good. There was no line and we got ordering immediately. My food was ready in only a minute or two. The food was really tender and the Mac was extremely good and cheesy. The green beans were fresh and delicious. The people were nice and the food was great!"

"The chopped brisket and pulled pork were good but I wish I would have asked for the honey bbq on the side. It was too much for my liking. I thought the serving of sides were small portions and I would have liked more than the small bowls. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back. This is always a favorite of ours to stop when we are traveling past."
