"So happy my wife and I finally stopped here to eat. Everything about our visit was excellent. We started our dining with a Calamari appetizer. The breading on these was the highlight. I just returned from LA where the calamari is fresh daily so I can't compare the two. Living in the Midwest it's tough to find high quality seafood. For this area, the calamari was as good as I've tasted. Being of Irish descent I had to try the Shepard Pie. I'm so happy I did! Piping hot with a perfect measure of beef and lamb. The vegetables were done to absolute perfection. The mash topper was very creamy with a nice thin crust of parmesean cheese. Portion size was excellent and the overall taste was authentic. This is a must try entree! My wife had the Double B Burger. She is usually not much a hamburger and chips lady but one look at the Bleu Cheese Double B Burger and she was sold. Some of her comments included " The meat itself is freaking delicious. I could just have that alone" The Bleu Cheese is stunning on this sandwich and the onion jam only lifts it higher" "Seriously. I'm not joking, this is the best burger I've tasted in a very long time" So I'm guessing she's rather fond of it. Even the chips were served perfect. Nice and crisp on the outside, not mushy inside and most importantly, hot!! Our sever Erin was an absolute gem. Friendly, professional and checked to ascertain our satisfaction often, but not too often. Great job Erin! You certainly added to the five star rating. It was our pleasure to meet you. One minor suggestion. Expanding your hot tea selections would be a plus. Overall this local dining establishment shines with its own brilliance in downtown Piqua."

"The bangers and mash was the best I’ve ever had in my life. So good we didn’t even get a photo. The kraut has a bright mustard taste that compliments the sausage and mash really well. The shepherds pie was also very good but be careful, you will burn your mouth. It’s a local restaurant with limited staff but you can tell they all care so much about the service they give. Our server worked his tail off and did a great job! The beer was also fantastic!"

"Callie was our server and did an excellent job of taking care of us. We started off with their pretzel and beer cheese. This had to have been the best pretzel I have ever eaten. Then my wife had the seared salmon, mash, zucchini and squash and I had the fish and chips with coleslaw. The food was amazing and we had very generous portions. Can’t wait to visit again."

"I initially walked into the main library which this location is attached to and asked for recommendations of food. They mentioned a place that was attached that had affordable food and that was their first recommendation. When asked about the Scottish Thistle the major point was that this place doesn’t even list their prices online. We actually spend a minute looking online and on their Fb before I went. No luck. After further searching and reading other reviews this is the theme, no clear pricing on food, or drinks. I took the elevator to the side door and sat at the bar. It took about 10 minutes for someone to even notice me sitting there. The place was pretty empty for close to 5pm. I could have easily sat down and left and no one would notice. There was a table or two leaving as I arrived and I actually saw staff walking through the other room and while I was looking towards them they never looked towards me to acknowledge me there. Eventually I was noticed and ordered the Scotch eggs, and the Cornish hen. While the menu said the Cornish hen would take 25 minutes to arrive it actually took about 17 minutes. The scotch eggs did arrive quickly but unfortunately they were the best thing about the experience. Ordering the Cornish hen they were served with mash potatoes and I asked what other sides I could get such as fresh veg. The server said veg wasn’t an option and there was no other sides offered. As you will see in the photo attached when it came out the server was surprised that it came with a mixed veg blend… and so was I. It did look familiar though and after tasting it I realized I was being served a mix veg steamer bag from green giant. Normally i wouldn’t recognize this kind of thing but the blend was very familiar. Before I left I talked to the server. I shared my experience the lack of service. The bland Cornish hen that was dried up, the lack of pricing, the dessert that was 3 options of cake, the fact that they are in piqua Ohio and don’t have any fresh veg options or locally sourced foods or desserts. I asked my server how things tasted and they were like, oh I’ve never tasted the food here we should do that. Presentation looks good but the taste falls right off. When served the meal I was asked do you want any sauces with it? I looked back imagining a house sauce or a specialty I was immediately answered with ketchup and that also sunk my expectations. You want me to have ketchup on my Cornish hen? I’m going to give it a few months and go back. Maybe they will make some improvements. Locally sourced options, details, … when I asked about the mashed potatoes they told me they make them in large batches every few days… like whhhhhyyyyy!!! You have a super small menu with hardly any customers at least care enough to make small delicious batches instead of reheated full priced food."
