Serenity By The Shore

"It has been over a year and I still remember how this I was the most terrible experience I have ever had at destin pointe; a community which I absolutely adore. The house was in an ok spot. The walk to the beach is not terrible and everything was neat & clean. There was sand on the floors when we arrived but considering it was peak vacation season then; it was really ok. The owner is super neat and organized; OCD like, which I can appreciate. The living area was not as opened & spacious as I expected & the kitchen space is very small; good enough for one person to be working. The bunk bed room was very small, closet like (seemed bigger in the photos) overall destin pointe is still our favorite place to go.I cringe now everytime I think about our multiple annual trips to Destin. This house has a 12 person occupancy rule. There was never more than 12 people who actually stayed there over night. However, if you happen to have friends who were vacationing in the same area alone with her 2 young kids. God forbid she steps near the premises. I was contacted & told that no parties were to be had at that house & that if we don't abide by the rules then we will then be kicked off the premises. This was the beginning of the trip. That's what is considered a party? What?! We were old people and young kids. I'm not sure I know what a party is anymore. We were then messaged again because we as a family of adults & 6 kids walked in the street to go view the beach because her neighbor said they saw a bunch of adults and kids coming from the house..well.. yea..6 adults and 6 kids..thats exactly what they saw. Everything in this home was labeled; down to the light switches. But I will tell you this. I am thankful for my experience at this home, because of all the rentals we stayed at for the past decade; never did I ever feel like I had to protect myself. She stated that her vanity was ruin & warped on the front drawer which she HAD TO TOTALLY REPLACE (sink included)(we did have insurance; thank the Lord that she suggested that & she sure did file it; I kid you not, within that hour after we left) $8000 for that vanity. What do the kids say nowadays?.."That seems sus." God bless her soul. I have learned a valuable lesson of taking photos of everything in my future rentals and do a thorough inspection. From the moment we arrived, I felt harassed and victimized as a minority with a large family. I tried to remain silent and just let it pass; but she gave me a rating 1 star rating on VBRO and I was no longer able to comment on there (I'm sure it would have been erased any ways) and I just wanted to tell my story to get some closure for myself and to let you know, YOU WILL BE SURVEILLANCED 24/7. I still think having my sweet kindergarten teacher friend & her 2 kids, who were staying at a separate rental visit calling for warning of eviction was.what's the word?.. ah.. "straight tripping."It makes you think, "man who hurt you lady?" We also booked a sandcastle building class w/ Beach Sand Sculptures; who she had recommended to us & promotes at booking time. Everything was booked & ready to go. Our sandcastle guy contacted us to determine the meeting spot the night before and as soon as I notified her that I will have a friend come by with her kids for the class on the beach (transparency; nothing to hide) it was miraculously canceled. "An absolutely beautiful property & the owner has done so many things to make the stay exceptional. She is so helpful too! Property was even better than I had expected and beautiful touches everywhere you turned. Location can't be beat. Amenities are top notch and well thought out. We have stayed at home rentals all over the world and Serenity is one of our top favorites in design, comfort, and wonderful owners who obviously have a passion for customer service! "Loved our family vacation at Serenity by the Shore in Destin Pointe and we can’t wait to come back next year! It is only a 3 minute walk to two private beaches with gorgeous white sand and emerald waters. The house is very well appointed with nice furnishings and everything you need to relax and enjoy a beach vacation. The kids and teenagers really enjoyed the large game room on the first floor. The adults liked sitting out on the large balconies or watching the big screen TV’s which are in every room. We also enjoyed using the hot tub at night. We made a lot of meals in the well equipped kitchen. And we enjoyed trying some of the restaurants the host, Macey, recommended. Oh, and we had the perfect view of the Thursday night harbor fireworks show from the second private beach just down the street! We will be back. "This beautiful home was the perfect spot for our vacation in Destin. It was extremely clean, beautifully decorated, centrally located, and can accommodate 12 people with ease. The owner was extremely helpful and gave us excellent suggestions on where to shop and where to find the best eating establishments. She was also very knowledgeable about which places took reservations to minimize our wait time. The beach is beautiful and not crowded. The garage was turned into a game room and had plenty of seating. The hot tub was also huge plus for us. We will definitely return to Serenity by the Shore."
