"I’ve been to this liquor store before and would have been happy to give it a 5 based on my previous experiences with them, but my transaction with them this week changed all that... I would give them a zero, but to write a review, you have to give at least a 1. I stopped in on 4/24/2018 looking for some Leblon Cachaca Brazilian rum, but Glen Lakes Liquor didn’t have any of that particular rum. They did, however, have one bottle of “OLO Silver Rum”, a “Premium Brazilian Rum In The Style of Cachaca” on the top shelf. $24.99 plus tax. I bought it, took it home and that same evening went to open the bottle to make some caipirinha’s for my family. One twist of the cork plug, and the cork disintegrated, breaking in half. Half a cork out, half still in. Obviously, it was a rotten cork. I took a closer look at the bottle and could tell it had been on the shelf a while- old sticker adhesive residue on it, the cork looked very wet. I took the bottle back to Glen Lakes Liquor the next day (4/25/2018) and talked to the cashier who had sold it to me. He basically said tough luck- once a bottle leaves the store, you can’t return it. I argued with him for several minutes, but he was adamant that there would be no returning it- and offered to remove the rest of the cork for me with a wine bottle opener, but how would I seal it for the trip home, and how would I seal it after getting it home and using only a couple of shots of it? What... stick a piece of Saran Wrap on it and fasten it with a rubber band? My husband and I left after getting nowhere with the cashier, “Frank”. All I can say is, if “Frank” is right and you really can’t return/exchange a faulty bottle of $25.00 rum, then I won’t be returning to that liquor store any more. When I purchase something, I trust it will be fresh and in new, usable condition. This rum is neither."
