"UPDATE: I received a call from the VP that oversees the Florida franchise and he has kindly agreed to work with me to resolve this issue. He was very respectful, courteous, receptive, gracious and apologetic for the issues. His level of customer service is what is needed and greatly appreciated. This was the worst $1500.00 mistake I have ever made. My chair arrived at 7:00 pm 1/6/2024 and at 12:00 pm 1/7/2024 I went to the store to try to make arrangements to return it. I was basically told it was my problem and they would not take it back by the general manager. I am willing to pay restock fee and any charge to have it picked up. The chair is horribly uncomfortable and my back ached after only an hour sitting in it.II was told by the General Manager to sit in it for a few weeks and it will get better. I have Multiple Sclerosis. I am not going to sit in a chair that causes me pain for a few weeks to see if it gets better. That is like telling some one to keep chewing on a sore tooth to see if it stops hurting after a few weeks. Also when I went to move the chair out of the way because I was no longer going to sit in it, the back came off the chair. The general manager told me that was normal because they don't use the locks provided. He said they are to difficult to use. So....why do I want a chair that is uncomfortable and can't be assembled completely because it has a design flaw that makes it difficult to secure the back of the chair? Another good reason to return it, that I was told was not a complaint he had ever heard before. I don't care how many times he has heard it, it is valid to me, the customer. When I asked if they would do an exchange, again he said he didn't know and would have to get with his boss, but warned me to expect the answer to be no and I would be stuck with the chair. Honestly, I did not want an exchange, I wanted to return the chair for refund and be done with this store. When I told him I would bring the chair back to the store and leave it out front with no credit issued he told me he would have me arrested. Now 1/8 they come back and tell me I can reselect something else, pay 20% restock and pay to have it delivered, not understanding I don't want to purchase any more furniture from La-Z-Boy due to this experience and the quality of what I received. On what alternate universe would any one want to buy anything more from them after this. I have a chair that is useless that cost $1500.00 and La-Z-Boy ownership at this location is ok with that. If I don't reselect they offered a store credit that will never be used, so they have delivered product that is not usable and have been paid in full. Does this sound like a case for the Florida Department of Consumer affairs and the Better Business Bureau if the corporate office can't assist getting this chair picked up and my money refunded less 20% restock and the fee to pick it up which I am more than willing to pay? Or maybe I should reach out to my local news stations consumer advocate? This is a simple decision to do the correct thing and satisfy a customer but the ownership/management does not seem willing to do that. They seem extremely rigid, very unsympathetic, and willing to lose customers and and accept bad reviews. I understand policies, but I also understand that helping a customer out is the way to get them back in the store as is positive word of mouth. La-Z-Boy is getting a very bad reputation, and I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt, but shame on me for being so foolish. Looks like they are as bad as I have read when it comes to a customer that is not satisfied with no willingness to be flexible and make an exception to a rule. Beautiful wood furniture. I have dealt with La-Z-Boy Brandon over the years and have always been pleased. Most recently, I was assisted by Sales Consultant Keith Deneen and Interior Designer Linda Dunn, both of whom are very knowledgeable about the products. Linda was also helped me in my home with selecting a coffee and end tables, and helping with the floor plan. They are both real professionals and were able to answer all questions! I recommend them highly."
