Rouses Market

"Was going to get a roasted chicken, til I saw it expired on Feb 5 (it was Feb 8). Asked a deli worker (after literally yelling to get someone’s attention) about the egg rolls from the sale paper. They had never put them out, they were still frozen. And they acted like I bothered them for asking. Got some broccoli salad and chicken salad, and made a salad from the salad bar. No ranch dressing- or any other- only empty dressing containers to be found. Tried to eat the salad- the meat was rancid- smelling- threw it all away. Tried the broccoli salad- the broccoli was dried up and stale- threw it away. Not taking a chance with the chicken salad : /"

"I placed an order for two sandwich trays. When I arrived to pick up the order it was not ready. The lady who was working in the deli was named Kim. She quickly offered to make something in place of what I had ordered. The meal for the event was taken care of in a short amount of time & everyone enjoyed the food. Kim is a valuable employee for Rouses!"

"Rouses Market in Spanish Fort, home of the famed Eastern Shore Meat Museum. Here, you can venture to the back of the store and bask in the reflective light of a beautifully presented collection of steaks, seafood and sundry other delicacies from a cajun cookbook. None of it is actually for sale. I say this because no fewer than six times I've stood at the counter pointing at a hunk of overpriced steak and the folks behind the counter seem unable to the take the hint or generally unwilling to actually sell you anything. Once you set your sights lower to some pre-packaged meats along the nearby wall you will be greeted with no more than one cash cash register and a well-marbled but extensive line of power-coupon Karens and frustrated Chads just trying to grab a gallon of milk on their way home from work. I would love to love this store but you make it hard. I found recently that not all Rouses are so afflicted with apathy. The Rouses in Daphne for instance, has a staff of friendly faces trained to engage with customers and amazingly more than one register open at any given moment."

"We visited Rouses yesterday. I was very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of all of the staff. The lady who helped us in the deli was really sweet. The young man who checked us out was friendly and very respectful. The store itself was clean and well-stocked. I enjoyed seeing all of the specialty items throughout. Overall great atmosphere here."

"A decent Rouses. It's a former Bruno's location so it has a similar layout but the Rouses folks have done a good job making it their own. I don't think you'll find a better selection of Cajun/Creole/Louisiana-made goods anywhere else on the Eastern Shore, either. The location is pretty convenient to the bulk of the residential parts of Spanish Fort compared to the other grocery stores around. Be sure to sample some cake slices from the bakery, I think they're really good for a supermarket! Just be sure to check expiration dates. If this store is anything like the one in Gulf Shores, there are a lot of old products on the shelves!"
