"We were sat quickly when we arrived but we waited about 15 minutes for someone to come to our table and take a drink order. Realizing we better go ahead and order everything while we could, we placed drink and food orders at same time. The gumbo came out after another 15 minutes and it was really good. The crackers that were served with it were somewhat stale but still edible. I got the fresh fish sandwich which was Mahi and supposedly locally caught. Maybe it was locally caught but it had been frozen before it got on my plate. Also the bread wasn’t very fresh and the portion size of the fries was lacking. My son got grilled Mahi which he liked but again, just small portions for what it costs. I know people go here and have to wait a while for a table so I would recommend going somewhere else. I won’t be returning and I would definitely not want to wait for a table at this place."

"Islanders was “ok”. Initial impressions when driving up were not great- lots of “stuff” stored underneath the building. Went upstairs, promptly greeted but informed of a 30 minute wait, although 6 tables were empty…something about staffing issues. We were advised that we couldn’t wait inside, we know it’s hot out, we’ll call you when a table is ready. Nice outside seating on the deck was closed and not being used - maybe due to the staffing issue. We were seated after 30 minutes but took a while to be noticed. In fact a party that was seated after us had drinks before we were acknowledged. Anyway, we’re not in a big rush…. By now we had plenty of time to pick from the menu so we ordered drinks and food all at once. The waitress had RBF…look it up, and I’ll leave it at that. They seemed to be well staffed but totally disorganized. Drinks came out soon enough but a bit sloppy. Food came out quickly enough but out of a party of 5, one person didn’t get their food. Couple other adjustments, no big deal. Food was hot, quality was decent, no issues there. The waitress tended to us and kept drinks filled. Our 5th person finally got food. Overall an “ok” 4- star experience."

"The food overall was decent. The gumbo I had was delicious, but the rest of the dishes were just average. While everyone else seemed satisfied with their meals, no one was overly thrilled. The presentation was a bit disappointing, with appetizers served on paper plates; I had higher expectations. On a positive note, the service was outstanding! Our waitress was attentive and efficient, even during the busy 6 pm rush. We didn't have to wait for a table for four, which was fantastic. Additionally, the views from the restaurant were beautiful. I'm willing to give this place another chance soon. It wasn't terrible, but it didn't wow me either. With great service and lovely views, they have the potential to improve the overall experience."

"We reserved a table for 6 at this restaurant on a Thursday night. The place was packed but we were seated. It's got a very chill feel to it, there was live music and really pretty over head lights. There's also outdoor dining as well. It took 45 minutes to get our drinks (6 waters and a tea) and another 45 minutes for food. Our orders came out at different times so one of our friends didn't receive their meal until around 2 hours after our arrival. They were extremely understaffed, but acknowledged that we were waiting a long time - our waitress was stressed and the kitchen was behind. However, we got a free bread pudding and a free meal as compensation for our wait. BUT, the food was amazing. Hands down the best dinner I've had on the island this vacation. Most of the table had side salads which were of decent size and quality. I ordered a bowl of gumbo and the sweet Thai shrimp. Both were delicious. They had their own Asian slaw and their gumbo wasn't spicy. The other dish pictured is the Islanders seafood plate - we chose to get blackened Cobia fish - it wasn't dry and was the right texture. I highly recommend going when it's not busy!"
