"To get to this park you take a ferry. The park is a little island. You can tent camping and boat camping. It’s always booked. You want to camp here it’s a waiting list or book way in advance. The hiking trail is a loop. A little camping store in the park."

"Beautiful area! Pet friendly. Family oriented. Parking was simple and the ferry was timely. The ferry operator was calm, kind, and made the passengers feel safe. He also chatted about the parks history on the ride over to the island. The small museum was great! I can’t wait to visit the park again."

"Great place to go! We managed to book the 6 person cabin back in mid July, it was very spacious inside. The closed off balcony was good on a random Florida rain shower. The wet trail was great to walk with, although we didn’t get to see much animals when we went. Camping area had plenty of trees so it provided plenty of shade. The rangers and the staff from the boat, and convenience store were all nice and friendly. They had a small park for kids to enjoy and get all that energy out. Although when the sun is out the park gets really hot, but unfortunately that’s Florida for you. I dropped a star because the showers did not have a small bench to help put clothes or stuff while showering a toddler. So unfortunately it made it slightly difficult to carry and hang things in the door. Other than that we had a great time here."

"This is old Florida the way it should be experienced! So peaceful. Right on the St John River. To access the Island you raise the flag at the dock and they come get you. The staff was courteous and very friendly. They deserve the highest praise. Read the rules and regulations and there will be no surprises. There is no fees for the park or boat ride to the Island. They have a store and you can rent bikes which we did by the hour. Canoes, kayaks playground, camping and great hiking trails. We enjoyed Hontoon Island and highly recommend."

"This is an amazing place to visit and camp with your family. We had rented cabins to spend new years and had the best time here, bring your bikes (or rent on site) as they have beautiful bike trails and hiking trails. You can rent kayaks, canoes and boats here as well. This is on an island and you have to get on a ferry to get here, the ferry runs all day long till sunset and is free. The park rangers are very helpful and we were lucky to join one of the guided hikes to start 2022."
