"Stayed end of February, peaceful and quiet. HUGE site facing the beautiful bay. Not much to do here which is great. Main bridge abuts the campground so there is white noise and lights at night but ok with us. Septic tank on several sites and there were back up issues both seen and reported by others. Overall a keeper and we will gladly return."

"Our first stay in a military campground. Look for the brown sign (and put in your GPS) "Maxell Gunter Recreation Area" The views of the bay and the oak trees are amazing! There is significant noise from the mid-bay toll bridge, but when inside with ACs on, the traffic can't be heard. Despite GPS, the easiest and best route is Exit 85-Defuniak Springs. Go south, after a few miles, watch closely for "Rock Hill road" on the left, then ~.1 mile, turn right onto "Hwy 282, site C-6" (if you go 1/2 mile past Rock Hill, you have missed it, turn around, then you will see a sign that says "Eglin site C-6" Go to dead end, turn left, will end on Hwy 20. Turn right. (Then ignore GPS once more. Keep going on hwy 20, turn left onto "White point" (walgreens will be on your left). Go straight, look for brown sign on right. No matter the direction, you are traveling on I-10, avoid Exit-70! It is a two lane road and will put you on the wrong end of Niceville! Hope that helps our military family!"

"We stayed here for the Memorial Day weekend and everything was excellent. The staff was very professional and helpful during our check-in and out process. The Bungalow was just so relaxing and only a few steps away from the beach. We will definitely be returning back for another quiet weekend getaway. Fyi, it’s very family oriented, peaceful and safe!! What more can you ask for."

"Such a friendly place to stay. It's beautiful, clean and right on the water. We definitely will return next year. The staff went far and beyond to accommodate our large motorhome. We were so pleased and thankful."

"Right on the Bay next to the Mid Bayshore bridge. Convenient pull through sights and the little Beach area for the campers was nice also. It is a nice little military camping area for Maxwell Air Force Base. Despite the $4 toll bridge you can access Destin which is just across the water off that bridge. They have a fishing dock and pier."
