About the Business

Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park, located at 4281 Florida 20 in Niceville, Florida, is a stunning natural landscape that was once a WWII gunnery and bombing practice range. The park is shaded by majestic longleaf pines, some of which are over 300 years old.

The centerpiece of the park is Rocky Bayou, a trailing arm of Choctawhatchee Bay, which is popular for boating and fishing. Visitors can also enjoy activities such as hiking, biking, canoeing, and observing the diverse wildlife communities that call the park home.

Unfortunately, the campground at Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park will be closed for approximately six months starting on July 21, 2024, for a construction project. However, visitors can still enjoy the beauty of the park and end their day with a breathtaking Panhandle sunset.

The park hosts annual special events such as Pioneer Day in November and Estuary Day in May, as well as other events and ranger programs throughout the year. Come and experience the natural beauty and tranquility of Fred Gannon Rocky Bayou State Park.

"Park is beautiful and the trails are great for older or mobility challenged. We liked all the trails and walking with our GS was easy. Beach area was small. Bathrooms both in day and campground were clean and well kept. It was a little disappointing that we were not allowed to drive through the campground area to look at the sites as we do State Park hosting and VIP most of the time we are out and about. Campground are was nice and well kept as well."

"This park is great! The staff is very helpful and the park is well maintained. The trails are short and have lots to look at. The kayak rental was very easy and the bay is fun to explore. I didn't use the campsites, but they look clean and well shaded. They have places to hook a hammock. Overall worth the trip from destin if you are tired of the beach"

"Drove here from Destin for an overnight. With fees, campsite was $30. The bath house was beautiful, updated, clean & air conditioned! They had laundry facilities that were working. $2wash $2 dry, change machine was broke. Ranger was nice at check in! The hiking trails are nice—I’d advise you take them!"
