The history of the North Fort Myers Recreation Center dates back to 1997 when it first started in the boardroom of the little league building. Since then, the facility has expanded and grown to its current 33,000-square-foot space, which opened in October 2013. To obtain a membership, individuals must visit the Rec Center in person with valid photo identification, and minors under 18 must have a parent present to sign an annual waiver.

"I am really disagree with the staff being so rude disrespectful and having a low compassion for me and my situation. Today I was treated as trash there, and The manager had the guts to treated me with "the rangers" when I was exit the building to go to an doctor appointment because I am not feeling well. They denied to let me take my companion dog with me inside because only services dogs are allowed to go in to the showers, I left him tide with a rope from his collars to my door's car because I can't left him inside of my car. I saw different homeless people left their dogs tied outside too, and I never heard they call the attention to them, I have a year and more going there to shower, because they allow homeless people to do it, and I never had an incident, but today was so dissappinted and annoying to be confronted in that repugnant way, and also the new front desk guy is so disrespectful laughing every time I was talking. Indeed evilness is governing nowadays."

"$10 lifetime membership can’t be beat! There is a separate fee to use the weight room, which is very reasonable especially because they offer a discount for six or 12 months. I go regularly to play pickleball. It’s a very popular activity at the rec center so you might be waiting for a long time in between games, but the majority of people are friendly."
"Playground, lighted baseball fields, football fields, basketball court, swings, picnic tables... Clean, well-tended grounds... Did not go in the center, but it looks quite large and able to host many types of activities... Great job Lee County Parks & Recreation!"
"They are there to help everyone also red cross set up there during hurricaine Irma and fed and bed anyone who needed. They also have $10 a year memberships for sports, showers, computers, plug ins for cell phones and much more. Great place!"
