Diamond in the Reef

"We love Destin and this is a great place to stay with a brand new swim spa pool! With six bedrooms and two levels this is a perfect house for large families. The upstairs kitchen opens into a great room and was our go-to gathering area. You can see the beach from here as it is right across the road. Walking to the beach took us two minutes and the Henderson Resort is one block away (cafe, restaurant, bar and a ton of cool historical Destin photos make up the decor). There are many places to stay in Destin but this is our first pick every time it’s available!"

"we had a reservation for this home to arrive on 9/23/20 and 15 min past our arrival time the management company for the homeowner called to tell us they were running behind because the people before us had trashed the house and vomited without cleaning it up and they needed more time to clean. I pushed to ask for a place to stay for a replacement and they brought us over to a home called The Whale. On our ride there we checked the house out and thought we would ask to stay at the home they said we could stay for the night. Well we arrived at The Whale and was told they had hurricane damage and that they had to check with the homeowner to see if we could stay there even for the night before offering to us!! Well the homeowner said he didn’t want us to because if the adjuster said it was unsafe we would have to leave!! Why the management company Harmony didn’t check first is beyond me!! In the meantime, we have 13 women sitting in a car waiting for them to give us a resolution!!so they bring us back to a diamond in the Reef claiming it was all cleaned and ready only to find out the rug needed to be cleaned downstairs As well as there was the smell of fecee in the bedroom upstairs and now the story is the girl didn’t tell us someone vommitted but that kids had peed everywhere! When we told them that the person who called us said vommitting and I had 6 witnesses in the car that heard the same thing he still claimed not correct! Btw they claimed everything happened downstairs and we question that too because they didn’t stay with the guest! Because we felt there possibly had been a Covid party and that no matter what because of COVID we were not comfortable staying at the home and to please provide their alternative options he said they had Nothing and we were on our own. They did not even offer a hotel for us to stay at now three hours later with 13 women! We even asked if they would get us a place with a different company and transfer our money to them he said nope nothing they will or can do for us!!! I shared that it is not like I had the money just sitting in an account, that they had to know at noon the house would not be ready he just kept saying well nothing we can do!! I even asked to speak to the owner of the company and he said can’t do that either!!! So we were now on our own to find a home for the retreat I was hosting for 14 women at 9 pm!! They easily could’ve called around noon and helped work it out! All we kept hearing was he had plans and he had to leave and the lady that met us had to go get her kid so our needs were not a priority!! Thank God we found a home with Diamond Gulf Rentals and they even got the owner to let us in that evening!! To the owner of this home and The Whale please know I would switch from Harmony and if you don’t I would take better pictures, ask them to do better maintenance as the pictures look nothing like the posted as well as the pool areas were a mess!! Btw we had one of our ladies go by on Sat as she was expecting a package and they were still cleaning the place!! Update 9/28/20 I found the homeowners phone number and he was very appalled that Harmony Management company did what they did to us and he is going to gather the information we shared and speak with them. He was very apologetic about what happened to us so this is about the management company and the way they take care of their homeowners homes and what they don’t share with their homeowners."

"We came in the middle of a hurricane and the management was very helpful in making sure our needs were addressed promptly. Adults and kids all had a great time, the nearby beach is perfect for children. This is a nice property with good management. Here are some tips for inquiring/prospective travelers... #1) We ordered pizza (pickup) from Fat Clemenzas and it was good, Italian style pizza. #2) We went to the Donut Hole for Donuts and it was delicious. #3) For out-of-towners, the grocery stores has Blue Bell ice cream which is the best ice cream I have had stateside. #4) The walk to the beach is only a few minutes but if you have little ones and lots of beach gear, you may want to bring a collapsible wagon to help you tote the stuff back and forth. #5)"
