Holiday Inn Miami West - Airport Area, an IHG Hotel,

"This hotel has a lot of nerve charging an amenity fee upon arrival. Placed booking and paid taxes online, however when we arrived to check in, more surprise fees stacked on top of that. The fees were for an unusable pool, and apparently not to clean up the empty, crumpled up cigarette packet that was sitting on the front desk, going ignored by employees. Unfortunately the amenity fees also included a mouldy ceiling in the shower, grungy doors, a bath tub covered in paint drips, a shower that never actually got hot, and obnoxious adult guests running around the halls loudly shouting at 3AM. When I rang the front desk to ask them to sort it out, nobody answered. The amenity fee is just a tacky cash grab by a hotel that’s not doing a very good job to hide its age and dinginess."

"Old run down hotel. Some lipstick renovations but it looks like a patchwork hotel. Front desk attendant was polite and calm despite being the only person working a busy front desk. We had to have our keys reprogrammed 3 times before having one working key. Many other people also came down to the front desk for this issue while I was there. We ordered a cot when we made the reservation and were told we’d have one. Found out when we arrived that the hotel doesn’t supply cots. We were given two extra blankets instead. Location is not great. Doesn’t seem Safe and isn’t a very walkable location for nearby restaurants and shopping. It’s called an airport hotel but it’s not very close to the airport. This place has a 4 star review rating in google maps. Do not be fooled. This is not 4 a star experience or quality. Update: Now that our stay is over at this place I’ll add a few positives: -building did not collapse during the night -minimal mold and mildew in the shower -foul odour in the room wasn’t overpowering -rental car was not stolen overnight. Seemed like a real possibility. -high police presence to manage whatever horrible thing happened over night that caused a nearby room to be taped off with police tape. One of the kind officers road the elevator with us and offered a serious and grim “try to stay safe today, folks.” -no hurricanes in Florida while we were at this hotel. -the list of positives could go on forever."

"Hotel is nice and clean. The building is a little dated, but the furnishing looks brand new. Everything as expected from a holiday inn. The staff were all extremely kind caring. Beds were comfortable, and daily room service is a plus. Keep in mind the hotel is located a few feet from a major highway, and in the room with balcony, all the noise comes straight into the room, as the doors don't seal well."

"We stayed here one day before our cruise and one day after our cruise. The first room we had was musty but it worked for what we had. However, we tried calling the hotel to get a shuttle from the airport there nobody answered. My parents were at the hotel already and they went down and talk to the front desk. They said they were already packed but they couldn't answer their phones for them either. We end up taking it over there. It was much further from the airport then you think it seemed way out of the way. Saying it was near the airport, is misleading. The second time we stay here we got two rooms again. We arrived early and they were able to get us checked in early which was nice since our cruise got into port at 7:45 a.m. We ended up with a king size bed in a handicapped room so everything was short and lowered for handicap. It's one thing if you're handicap to have a handicap room but we were not. There was a huge wet spot in the carpet by the TV soaking wet. All the channels seem to be in Spanish so that was a little challenging and then they had everything on hearing impaired so everything was narrating everything on the TV for us so that was annoying as well. I'm sure it is okay for people that are hearing impaired and spoke Spanish. But we did not. The room was very musty smelling. And my husband had to flush a cockroach down the toilet that ran across the floor in the bathroom. You are right next to a high traffic area. There's a lot of beeping in the morning from the cars and sirens all night long. Just not quiet at all. We took the shuttle to the airport in the morning, the next day. We feared for our lives as the driver was crazy making his own lane exiting the hotel onto the main road. Cars were beeping at him and we all just looked at each other and buckled up and figured it was going to be a long ride to the airport. The food was good in the restaurant the second night that we stayed there."

"The hotel location is good and the ambiance is cool. The rooms were clean and spacious. The view from the room was awesome! There are few opportunities to improve though. First of all there were supplies for morning tea/coffee but the coffee machine was missing. Even after reporting it to front desk they didn’t provide one. There are no free coffee machine available in hotel lobby. There was no coordination between hotel restaurants and reception. Even though I booked room with free breakfast I was charged and after talking to reception they sort that. This is not a good experience for a guest. We were not offered water during check in or check out unlike few other guests."
