Sun Island Motel

"Pros: easy to find, nice park just down the block, clean room. Cons: the smell walking in would knock you off your feet. Had to leave the door open for a while to air out. I think they used a whole bottle of fabric softener on the bed. I could still smell it in me the next day. Tried to take a bath, shower head ran the same time as spigot and plug leaked so water didnt stay in. Lights on outside made it seem like it was daylight all night long - no curtains to close - other people could see in thru the blinds. Coldest night so far in FL @40 deg (1/20) and there was no heater or blankets so very cold sleep. Only sheet and cover on bed. Everything done thru email, no contact number given for problems. No follow up email as stated. Nobody in the office for help. No response for request of receipt. You get what you pay for with this cheap room. $100 a night my expectations were not high but..."

"We were supposed to receive checkin information by email. We received nothing. After our flight, we got our rental car and came straight here. When they say unmanned front office, they really mean it. There is no one to help. I only had data so I tried emailing. After 30 mins we found a guest who let us use their phone. I called and she gave me a room and code. Went to the room and there were personal belongings. Imagine if someone had been in the room. I had to find another hotel guest with a phone to let her know. I called and she apologized. She said she had given us the code to an occupied room. She gave us a new room/code. Unfortunately the toilet in this room did not work. I emailed multiple times and no one responded. At night, a few guests had visitors in the pool area and they were screaming and fighting until 3am. We did not feel safe at all. Literally steps away from our room. Obv since there was no management at the hotel they could not stop the party. We had to be up at 6 for a booked activity and we were all exhausted. I do not recommend this motel. Next time, I will pay more to stay at a hotel with 24 hour service/security."

"This is a wonderful place to stay for the night. We had our family with us, and there was plenty of room. We stayed in room 11, and it was awesome! Very nice and clean we had the suite which had a queen bed 2 twins a livingroom kitchen and bath.. I felt very safe at this motel they also had a pool. No one works at the office, which was strange, but there is a number you can call, and they do respond when you call she was very nice. They send you a code to get into your room . It was about 5 minutes to the beach and we were there! I highly recommend this motel the prices were good and everything was so nice and clean thank you for a great experience."

"I booked this just to meet some friends in town. I must say it’s super clean and spacious. Very good motel at a cheap price. So I’m pleased. I just came here to sleep pretty much so it was perfect but cons are tv didn’t turn on and hot water don’t get very hot. Other than that it’s great and very quiet. I would book it again. Oh and the plus it has a little kitchen with microwave."

"The room was very clean and tidy! There were plenty of kitchen amenities and a microwave. My only complaint is the outside lights would come in at night brightening the entire room. Also the TV kept turning on every 45 minutes, which was unusual.. We would hit power off, and it would turn on again on its own. Eventually we just unplugged it. The customer service was great! It gave off a very peaceful, family owned vibe. They happened to be cleaning a room when we walked in, and let us change before hitting the beach-even though it wasn’t time to check in. The location is pretty decent for the price of the hotel. About a 20 minute walk, but only 7 minute drive to public beach access!"
