"What a great little gem of a restaurant tucked away under Highway 59 on the south side of the Intercoastal Waterway. Great lively & fun atmosphere, mostly locals, which speaks very well for the anticipated quality of the food, and almost everyone, staff & customers, know each other. Our food was outstanding. I had the Italian Sausage & Peppers, and my fishing buddy had the South Foley Cheesesteak & Provolone. The picture of my empty & clean plate 'after' I finished says much for the quality of my meal! The staff were exceedingly articulate, friendly, and helpful. It was a waitress team, including Jane, Jazmine, & a couple of others. Great job all the way around."

"Overall a bit of a let down after reading other reviews. The sandwiches were decent, nothing special. My chips were overcooked, a bit of a burnt taste. The location has good decor. It does suffer from echoing. It was very loud without any music. The servers did their best to manage the crowd."

"I went to The Sloop with 6 people. I couldn’t have been happier with all aspects of our visit. I had a Bloody Mary that was pretty impressive. My partner and I both got the steak nachos, which neither he nor I regretted. You know how sometimes you get nachos and the toppings are just piled on top and there is nothing on the bottom chips? Yeah, not these! They were so good. Everyone in our group enjoyed their food. Our servers/bartenders were really cool. They were friendly and fun. We had a great time with them. As far as the establishment, it was everything a dive bar should be. It had such great energy. And bonus, there were police and other first responder patches hanging on the wall. As a group of off-duty police, fire, and EMS from all over the gulf coast region, we appreciated the support that The Sloop displayed. We will absolutely be back!"

"I’m so glad we decided to try this place. As a person that grew up in Southeastern PA I can tell you this is as close as you can get to a Philly cheesesteak without being in Philly. They even use amoroso rolls. They also have Italian sausage sandwiches which are a staple in PA. The staff here was also exceptional. I will be coming back here on my next trip to gulf shores and I recommend you do the same."

"Ive heard this place has the best Philly Cheesesteak you can get south of actual Philly. Well I tried one today and I will say it was one of the tastiest ones I’ve had. I wanted another. Next time I’ll just get the 12”. It does comes loaded with meat n cheese, so no need to ask for extra. Homemade Potato chips complimented it, but more of a garnish.. I am curious to see how the hand cut fries taste. Well worth the drive up Gulf Shore Parkway. Cool, local watering hole with live music at night. They have a cool beach themed patio. Most def recommend giving this place a try!"
